The main damage to the Church’s gospel witness to the world during this matter has been done by those who profess to be Christians and yet flood social media with attacks on a repentant sinner.

I’m praying for Sam Allberry today as a large part of the evangelical world publicly dumps on him as if they are not wretched sinners in need of God’s grace. A pastor’s response to sin should be like that of Jesus in the entirety of John 8.1-11.

In evangelical circles, we need to repent of our worldliness in putting other Christians on a pedestal & of celebrity culture. It’s ungodly & does harm to all.

@MatthewPFirth Repentance is something that will hopefully be demonstrated over a long time by him. It’s not something you can declare immediately in the wake of this. Especially after we’ve already had 2024 where this was brought up and put back to bed and not properly dealt with.
