About 30 minutes ago, two reserve officers from a very, very elite unit arrived outside my house.
They asked the security guards to deliver me a letter, but Gilat saw them outside and invited them into my living room.
After I brought them a drink (my dog Lychee tipped one of the glasses with her tail, but it's only water) they introduced themselves, and told me about their friends who fell on 7/10.
They are 28-29 years old.
One is married, the other is now engaged.
Both work in high-tech in excellent companies.
I asked them how I could help.
They answered:
"We just did 150 days of reserve service. We fought on 7/10 and lost some of our closest friends.
We care about the future of the Jewish state and are ready to leave everything, including our well-paying high-tech careers, to save Israel.
We are not interested in money and prestige.
As we fought in Gaza, so we are citizens ready to do whatever is necessary to fix Israel.
We are people of action, optimistic.
Tell us how we can help.'
We talked for twenty minutes.
This is a generation of lions.
Understand, friends:
The terrible disaster and the difficult war left a mark on the psyche of this generation.
A seal of idealism, action, contribution and love of country.
This seal that was burned in the hearts of the younger generation will accompany them for the rest of their lives.
It is these values in the hearts and minds of the younger generation that will guarantee us 50 years of prosperity, growth and security.
Just as the 1948 generation that came out of the War of Independence, built a state here and performed miracles (the national water carrier, the industries, the great Aliya, the building of towns and cities), so our generation of lions will lead the rebuilding of the State of Israel.
I'm confident.
How much I love you, people of Israel🇮🇱❤️
Shabbat Shalom.
