@BenObeseJecty There’s been such a glut of Conservative policies published since the last election.

In April, Zia Yusuf pledged that Reform UK’s full policy document and detailed, comprehensive deportation strategy would be published in May. So where is it Zia? Is it that Reform won’t publish it, or can’t publish it?
Zia Yusuf@ZiaYusufUK

As Prime Minister, Nigel Farage will ensure the deportation of all illegal immigrants in this country within 5 years. -After decades of Tory and Labour rule, this country has failed to enforce its immigration laws and uphold the integrity of its borders. As a result of this open border policy, 1.2 million illegal immigrants now inhabit the UK. This is a national emergency.   -Reform UK’s policy team has drafted a comprehensive strategy to deport all illegal immigrants currently in the UK within 5 years. The plan is bold but actionable, firm but fair. As Prime Minister, Nigel will ensure our country operates a zero tolerance policy for illegal residence. The full policy document and detailed plan will be published next month. -All measures will be legally robust under UK law and administratively feasible. The strategy will employ special legislative provisions to overcome legal barriers, but will do so by explicitly changing the law rather than operating outside it.  -Key elements include a robust new legal framework. Firstly, we will leave the European Convention on Human Rights and replace it with a British Bill of Rights. Secondly, we have drafted legislation to disapply certain articles of other international treaties which have been used to frustrate attempts to deport those here illegally. Specific clauses will ensure that no asylum or human rights legal claim can delay removals, and that UK courts cannot halt deportations by reference to international treaties that work against the interests of the British people. -We will negotiate bilateral agreements to facilitate returns, and we will deliver an enormous scale-up of enforcement capacity. -A phased operational rollout will rapidly identify, detain, and remove illegal migrants. Enforcement agencies will be expanded and empowered to conduct nationwide identification and removal operations, leveraging massively increased detention capacity and chartered removal flights on a high frequency schedule.  -New agreements with origin and third countries will ensure there are destinations for all removed individuals, including those from war-torn states. Appeals and legal challenges will be permitted only after removal. -We will lay out a year-by-year timeline with clear targets, ramping up from initial capacity-building in Year 1 to peak removal numbers by Years 3 to 4, and completion by the end of the fifth year. -While the cost of this operation will be significant, it represents a massive saving on the status quo of allowing illegal immigrants to stay.  -Reform’s strategy represents a decisive break from the past half-measures of Tory and Labour governments. We simultaneously draw on international precedents and hard lessons (e.g. Australia’s enforcement-first mode), but also propose new mechanisms adapted to the UK’s specific circumstances. -Deportations on this scale have recent precedent: By the end of Barack Obama’s eight years in the office of president he had earned himself the title of “Deporter in Chief” on account of the over 3 million ‘noncitizens’ who were deported between 2009 and 2017. This the greatest number of deportations under any US president, more than all other presidents from 1892 to 2000 combined. -With Nigel as our Prime Minister, a Reform government will show unflinching resolve to ensure that those here illegally are deported within 5 years of Reform winning the general election. In doing so, the social contract in British society will be restored. The British taxpayer will save tens of billions of pounds, and our country will once again be governed by the rule of law.

@GRRRRRaham_King He’s my local MP. The bulk of his energy seems to be spent on cheap trolling via Twitter— especially of Reform. It would be less irritating were he actually witty enough to land some blows. As it is, he’s basically campaigning for Reform at this point.

This is just arrogant bilge. Most of our government departments would benefit hugely from the sceptical eye of people with real world experience, untainted by the “can’t do” Westminster attitude.
Ben Obese-Jecty MP@BenObeseJecty

@DawsonsRightPeg If you think the Government would function well with Secretaries of State and Ministers with zero experience of national politics or as an MP, then you’re even more naive than I thought. Like plucking fans out of the crowd to play for England and expecting to win the World Cup.

@RupertLowe10 You have been - and remain - an excellent MP. It’s clear to everyone that these accusations are a clumsy attempt to smear you for threatening the egos of others. Don’t let the bastards grind you down. Would that any of them had half the decency you so clearly show.

I have been betrayed more times than I care to remember, but never by people I would have called friends. It’s not a very pleasant feeling, to be entirely honest. Business, football, politics. Dirty games, all of them. I have always tried to surround myself with decent, honest and fair individuals, who I feel I can trust. Loyalty to those people has not always come cheap, costing me my job on more than one occasion. That is something I would not change. Of course I’m not a politician. I’m 67, and am fortunate enough to be able to financially support myself and my family. My wife thinks I’m mad to trudge around my little wonderful corner of Norfolk talking about bins and business rates. I love it, I genuinely do. Give me a heated argument with a cantankerous local councillor over mojitos on the beach any day. It’s the honour of my life to be the MP for Great Yarmouth. Yes, I’ve been outspoken on issues. Immigration, rape gangs, deportations, the rapid way in which our country is changing. And yes, that has not been appreciated by some within Reform. Let me be clear - I do not care. I will say what I believe is right, even if that upsets certain egos. I’ve run businesses all my life. Some successful, some not. The one thing in common from all of the successful ones? Communication. Clear, honest communication. Does requesting regular meetings of MPs make me a monster? Is asking to even just see policy before it’s made public unreasonable? Is it fair to be insulted because I want people to finally talk to each other? I have torn out what remaining hair I have left over the last few months trying to talk. That’s it. Just talk. I have tried, and tried, and tried to resolve all of this behind closed doors. I can only smash my head against a brick wall for so long. My one hurried and immediate summons to Reform HQ, which I could not make due to prior commitments, was the first and the last invite I would receive from the leadership. Put simply, Reform has handed a priceless gift to those individuals who have presided over our country’s relentless decline. I am going to now repeat publicly an invitation that I have extended to Nigel Farage in private multiple times over many months. Every offer has been refused or ignored. Please, let’s have dinner and resolve this in a manner that our members, and the country, would expect. Any time, any place. You’ve got my number.

I’ve been going to the gym for just about a year now, and every time - every single time - I use the leg press machine I imagine I’m entering the cockpit of a Colonial Viper. Too cool for school.

Growing up, home was my family’s security. As a lawyer, I fought for families at risk of homelessness, because I wanted every child to have the security I had. Now as Prime Minister, I’m doing the same. bigissue.com/news/politics/…
