On this day in 1975, Saigon falls to communist forces. It's the end of the 'Ten-Thousand-Day War' in Vietnam.

50 years ago, the Vietnam War came to an abrupt end. For nearly 24 hours starting on April 29, helicopters landed every 10 minutes on the US Embassy in Saigon, evacuating nearly 7,000 people. A memorial tree in Section 35 honors all helicopter crews during the Vietnam War.
