Exciting news! 🎉 Our Housing Navigator program is receiving a 2025 Innovation Award, presented by the @ICTBizJournal! Over time, our homeless services team saw the barriers our unhoused neighbors faced when navigating resources. They stood up the housing navigator program to connect each client with a guide who helps match them to available resources to meet their unique needs. These personal connections ensure the quickest and most effective path to housing, helping someone rebuild their life and restore their hope for the future. Join us in congratulating Jen McGill, Tyra Miles, and Jillian Castaneda on this well-deserved honor, and thanking them for the difficult and important work they do to help our neighbors on their journey to stable housing. What a great way to spend a Friday! Today I was blessed with the opportunity to join a strategic planning session with the City of Wichita library! Corinthian Kelly, Misty Bruckner, and their team at Wichita State did a great job with this planning session! #literacymatters

The CoC team at the @unitedwayplains is adding a new staff to our team for the purpose of ending Wichita homelessness. Jillian Castaneda will be working with people with SPMI to ensure that they are both connected to housing and get the care they need to stay in housing!

Today we hosted our first 'Best Practices for Sheltering' Open House at the United Way of the Plains! The collaboration and commitment of this group of shelter leaders to ending homelessness for those that they serve is amazing! #StrongerTogether #LiveUnited #endhomelessness

Today we welcome Tyra Miles to the United Way of the Plains family. She will be serving as the Domestic Violence Housing Navigator for the HMIS/COC team. This is a new position, and I am very excited about the impact that she is going to make for survivors of domestic violence!

Big announcement coming up tomorrow! The @unitedwayplains is adding another game changer to the Homeless Management/CoC team! This person will be key to ensuring survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking have equitable access to safe, permanent housing solutions!
