🇦🇺 BONDI BEACH SHOOTING: ONE DETECTIVE. ONE PISTOL. NO BACKUP. Footage shows a plainclothes Sydney detective creeping up on the Bondi Beach terrorists as they fired from a pedestrian bridge. No tactical gear. No rifle. Only his sidearm and 15 years on the force. The detective hid behind a tree approximately 40 meters from Sajid Akram, 50, and his son Naveed, 24. From that distance - with a handgun - he fired the shot that killed the father. Police sources told The Daily Telegraph: "Given the distance, it was a once in a lifetime shot." Video shows the detective approaching from behind cover while both shooters were actively engaging. After the fatal shot dropped Sajid, his son Naveed left cover and returned fire at police before he was also shot and critically wounded. Multiple heroes that day: Ahmed al Ahmed (civilian) wrestled a rifle from Sajid mid-attack, forcing him to retreat and re-arm. 2 other bystanders confronted one shooter as he exited his car - both were killed. Then this detective made the kill shot that ended Sajid's rampage. NSW Police won't comment - critical incident investigation ongoing. But the footage doesn't lie: detective saw active shooter situation, closed distance, took the shot, killed the threat.
