I asked my teenager how much gas her car had and she said, “72 miles.” I guess phrases like, “ a quarter of a tank” are going extinct.

Partially true. Netflix sets your "household" based on your main home WiFi/IP and device activity. Devices must connect/stream from that home network about once a month to stay linked. If not, you'll hit "This device isn't part of your Netflix Household" errors when away—then verify with a code, add as extra member ($8/mo), or create your own account.
