Earthset. The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon.

This is just awesome. Proof that humanity is at its best when we explore together, not tear each other apart. Go Integrity. Go NASA.

Very easy to replace the HoL and the obvious cronyism and political grubbiness of bought patronage this bill passing enhances. Simply create a new Shadow House of Commons with those who come second at a general election. They will elect a speaker and spend their time revising legislation from the HoC, making suggested amendments in the same way as today. The shadow house could commission independent expert panels to help revise legislation, ensuring experts are used. It could raise objections, warn the HoC and demand to be further informed, but it would never propose a bill or stand in the way of the primacy of the HoC. The Shadow MP term would expire at the same time as the House of Commons, the shadow house would likely represent the second largest political vote of the public - increasing Democratic legitimacy of parliament considerably and would mean that every constituency would have two representatives rather than one.

There should be no hereditary principle in our legislature. Embarrassing it’s taken a quarter of the way through the 21st century for it to happen. But welcome, at last.

This can’t just be about trade and transactions. It would also have to be an ongoing, public and deliberate celebration of 4 cultures. Yes very preferential trade agreements, lockstep coordinated defence arrangements etc. This would be a partnerships of equals - we aren’t recreating an Empire, we’re building something exciting and new. Moving forward together, confidentially, in a globally uncertain world. We’re not friends, we’re family and that’s how we should approach this - and NEVER again allow ourselves to be cut off from our family in favour of the crooks on the continent.

I wonder if it’s time for a purpose built parliamentary hotel, MPs would get use of a room, bathroom, kitchen etc for the time they’re in London (or wherever Parliament is based in the future). No second home, no rents, no expenses. All secure, concierge service, laundry etc. Local MPs would be excluded of course.

Myth: MPs get their home bills paid. Reality: I pay my own mortgage and bills in Rugby. When Parliament requires me in London, rent for the flat is covered, same as any worker required away from home. I pay for my own food.

@michaelgove Why does plant based milk cost more than cows milk? Because the process is different. We don’t protect vegans from extra cost. Why should someone of any faith be protected from extra costs of additional processes? I would also like assurance that my food is ethically produced.

Just keen not to impose extra costs on fellow citizens for being Jewish or Muslim
