Thoughts from Doral:
-Up and down week for me. Had plenty of good moments especially round 3. It was a windy day and I played some of the best golf of the yr for a 65. I got it rolling on Sunday but struggled off the tee for a few holes. I hit a tee shot that careened off a metal stick into a bush and that didn’t help either.
-I know many complain about how boring of a course Doral is on TV but playing it is definitely different. I thought it was a serious and unique challenge with the number of hazards in play and green designs. 18 is an absolute monster. Holes like 11, 14 were very good I thought.
-A little unfair that Cam got to play the other course for 4 days and won lol
-First time in Miami. Very cool city with awesome food. Cote Miami was stellar.
-But MIA airport is top 5 worst airports in the US. LAX, MIA, ORD, JFK, what am I missing? Def not recency bias
-I’ve put up the low round of the day twice in the last two signature events which is def something. Hopefully I can string something for an entire week next couple weeks!

The course was not set up at 7,700 yards today. It was set up at 7,489.
The field averaged 71.64 yesterday.
Today, with 17 players still on the course, the average is 71.07.
On a par 72.
What exactly is “alarming” about that?
Also, wind being part of a course’s defense is not a flaw, nor is it new. The Old Course has relied on wind as a defense for centuries. Some might argue it's the main defense.
The better question is not “did someone shoot low?”
It is “did the course separate players?”
According to Data Golf, yesterday the standard deviation in scores was 3.07, which is more variance than a typical PGA Tour course and more than what you typically see at Doral. Today it's 2.66, which is about what you would expect at the typical tour course.

We are increasingly relying on wind for courses to defend par, which doesn't feel a sound future strategy A 7,700 yard golf course famed for it's difficulty & length has produced some alarming scores. Any defense that the game is still in scale feels increasingly disingenuous!

Wonder why Matt Fitz chips cross handed?
It works because it’s easier to keep the hands ahead of the clubhead which makes contact much more consistent. Also if your right hand gets too jabby during the downswing, it won’t affect the swing as much as ur left hand will act as a natural buffer

I am 100% behind Devin Booker here. Last night was not a good look for our league. Let me be clear, we didn’t lose because of officiating, but that doesn’t make last night any less important. If the referees are going to demand respect from the players - as they should - then the players should demand respect from the referees. When a referee is missing calls and clearly disrespecting the players, almost mocking them, they must be held accountable. Nobody who loves this game enjoyed watching that last night. They want to see the players compete at the highest level. The league needs be far more aggressive about this kind of thing. All players and all fans deserve it.

Easy way to have sex with a 10 without spending any money:

These trades were 4 to 6 times larger than anything else in the entire market. Whoever did this wasn’t guessing. You don’t risk $1.5 billion on a hunch.
There was zero public indication this announcement was coming. No leaks. No press. Nothing. The only people who knew were in the room when the decision was made.
Someone in that room picked up a phone.
And within minutes they made more money than most Americans will earn in a thousand lifetimes. In a single trade. On a war that cost you $4+ a gallon gas and $16 billion in tax dollars.
American citizens funded this war. Politicians are profiting from it.
This is not the first time. Every major announcement from this administration has had massive suspicious trades right before it dropped. Tariff reversals. Policy shifts. War decisions.
This is the most blatant insider trading operation in the history of American politics. It’s not even close. And it’s happening over and over in broad daylight.
You would go to federal prison for trading on a tip from your cousin. These people are front running war decisions with billion dollar bets and nobody will ever ask a single question.
Nobody will be investigated. Nobody will be charged. By tomorrow this will be buried under the next satisfying headline. Just like last time. And the time before that.

The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last.
No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe.
Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5.
In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.
