Note that there do not appear to be any crops or people doing agricultural labor in that idyllic photo, though it seems like it would be a fantastic place to rent for a long weekend getaway.

Yesterday Mark Cuban reposted my work, DM'd me, and told me to keep telling my story. So here it is. I'm a Master Electrician. IBEW Local 369. 15 years pulling wire in Kentucky. Zero coding background. I didn't go to Stanford. I went to trade school. Every week I'd show up to a home where someone just bought a Tesla or a Rivian. And every time, someone had already told them they needed a $3,000-$5,000 panel upgrade to install a charger. 70% of the time? They didn't need it. The math is in the NEC — Section 220.82. Load calculations. But nobody was doing them for homeowners. Electricians upsell. Dealers don't know. And the homeowner just pays. I got angry enough to build something about it. I found @claudeai. No coding experience. I just started talking to it like I'd explain a job to an apprentice. "Here's how load calcs work. Here's the NEC code. Now help me build a tool that does this." 6 months later — @ChargeRight is live. Real software. Stripe payments. PDF reports. NEC 220.82 calculations automated. $12.99 instead of a $500 truck roll. I'm still pulling wire. I still take service calls. I wake up at 5:05 AM for work. But something shifted. Yesterday @vivilinsv published my story as Claude Builder Spotlight #1. Mark Cuban saw it. The Claude community showed up. And for the first time, I felt like this thing I built in my kitchen might actually matter. I'm not a tech founder. I'm a dad who wants to coach little league and be home for dinner. I just happened to build something that helps people. If you're in the trades and thinking about using AI — do it. The barrier isn't technical skill. It's believing you're allowed to try. EVchargeright.com

@noclador Somehow I don’t think liberating the people of Iran is what’s happening. Unless you feel like the people of Venezuela have been liberated.

It's wonderful that Israel & the US bomb the Mullah regime. It's especially wonderful for the people of Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen. It's shameful no European nation has the military, nor heart, nor fortitude to fly along our allies in their quest to liberate the Iranian people

@the_transit_guy Can you imagine Brooklyn without the BQE? How would a borough of 2M+ function? How would deliveries happen? How would people leave the city for travel? Who would want to live there? Thank god for Moses.

@NYMag I have a Public Storage unit in Brooklyn and I’ve been there 10 months. It went from $105 when I joined to $197/mo. The same size unit is currently $118 on the website. They must be breaking some kind of law.

The Mamdani administration is going after the self-storage industry. The city filed a lawsuit against a self-storage company, alleging that, among other claims, Extra Space Storage routinely charged customers increases that “seem to have no correlation to any market conditions or costs.” The suit is asking $5 million in penalties, hundreds of thousands for swindled customers, and immediate changes to how Extra Space does business. The suit is a parade of horrors. Bills allegedly spiked from $120 to $320 in a single month or rose nearly that far within the first 30 days of moving in. People who did pay — or thought their checks were being processed — said they sometimes learned too late their units were being cleared out. Others learned only by happenstance. “Extra Space is, like, the demon of all the storage companies,” says Raquel Gerardo, a 43-year-old paralegal named in the suit. In 2023, she says she was shocked by a $200 jump in the bill for her 10x15 unit in Queens. And the contract she signed described a window of 30 days’ notice before rent increases. She hadn’t gotten that, she says. When she went by the next day to deal with what she thought was a mix-up, there was a lock on her unit. An employee in the office didn’t have answers. Instead, she says he threatened her — and jumped over the sales desk. Read the full update: nymag.visitlink.me/a14xCa

@mnolangray I voted for him over Bass but that’s a low bar. Is this the best we can do in LA? Is he going to fix the finances? Will he stand up to homeowners who don’t want transportation near them? Will he clean up encampments? I’m not sold. SF, SJ, and SD all have better mayors…

Los Angeles could really use a steady hand right about now. Forget about policy for a moment: the city needs someone who can make basic things like entitlement/permitting/inspections work in a prompt and predictable manner.

BREAKING: @RickCarusoLA tells me he’s “reconsidering” a run for Mayor of Los Angeles. This comes after a @latimes report claims @MayorOfLA Karen Bass ordered the Palisades Fire after-action report to be watered down.

Disincorporate Los Angeles. Cities and counties aren't sovereign entities. They exist to administer services. Many are quite good at it. But when they suck at it, as Los Angeles clearly does, they should be replaced.
Richard Hanania@RichardHanania

Los Angeles can’t fix its roads on a long term basis because if it does a major project it is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act to create new sidewalk ramps. Since this is too expensive, they just make short term repairs instead. The ADA has been a disaster.

I was very curious what QBERT would do with Maye's start, and it thought he was actually pretty good. 96.9 rating for the game, average is 80. Huge credit for his rushing performance and heavy adjustments for facing a really good defense on the road in terrible weather.

@DrewPavlou You’re (maybe intentionally) missing the point. Putin pretends to be dispassionately enforcing the law. Trump and the Ayatollah are sending goon squads into the street to brutalize the citizenry. Rule of law may soon be over here in the US.

A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN: "We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."

L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law that legalizes the construction of housing near transit stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

One extremely underrated narrative in the NYC mayoral race: Things in New York are actually going pretty well under Eric Adams! Somehow, neither Adams nor Cuomo was able to seize on this simple fact. And Mamdani has been able to sell change. Great writing from @GregBerman50
