@alarter @moses_brian @MaryMyatt I was surprised this week. I finished reading Morpurgo's Beowulf to my class (my zero-attention-span, can't-take-anything-seriously class) and they clapped. The book ended and they had loved it. I wrongly thought it might be too verbose, or too gory, or too cliche for them.

@MaryMyatt I completely agree. I prioritise reading aloud to the class using a diverse range of texts. For me, it’s one of the biggest drivers for impact. Not only for pleasure but for academic understanding and comprehension.

A headteacher said something to me this week that I’ve been thinking about since. Her teachers enjoy reading to their classes. They value it. They know pupils enjoy it too. But they do not always see it as the best use of their time.

Never thought I'd see Starfox on the big screen. That alone was worth watching Mario Galaxy. My son loved the film, and tbh so did I. Yeah, there wasn't a lot of plot, but scene-to-scene it was great.

@scully1888 The 10yo kids I teach use "switch" to refer to pretty much all Nintendo consoles. The words Nintendo and Switch just go together for them. A gameboy, "That's one of those old Nintendo Switches." The DS, "Oh, the DS Switch?"

If anyone is still wondering why Nintendo went for Switch 2 as the name for its new console, I think this answers that!

Man with sunrise buster coming off the list, they are really pushing Shine next set which is surprising as the new cards are already strong. Everyone saw the Hudie hit coming, least it’s not entirely dead. Once again I think they’ve gone fairy light with this list #digimon

@MegaCrit I dusted off the ol' laptop to play. Managed to run the game with openGL (with help) but will I have to get a better PC sooner or later to play StS2? Bit worried because teacher wage doesn't stretch far enough for that! 'Grats on the Mega launch, seems like a Crit hit!
