Product development at @metrics_co has had a major qualitative change and acceleration over the past month. Using tools like @claudeai, we are now constantly discovering new capabilities in our product that we weren’t previously aware of. These capabilities were latent in the AI foundation models and the way we have organized developer interfaces (MCP, API, Excel add-in) + data model. For example, we can power VC liquidation waterfall analyses using our AI Analyst or MCP. We didn’t build UI/UX around this, but it can be done agentically. The AI model knows how to do this with the right prompt and the right data. We just discovered this late last week. Whole companies have been built around this. We also discovered that we can build out full DCFs in Claude + Excel + Standard Metrics MCP. And we published a video yesterday showing off a slide-based reporting workflow using Claude + PowerPoint + SM MCP. The exercise is now figuring out how to expose these advanced capabilities / new workflows and organize them for users. We are pushing more video content out on social, but our website is dramatically behind what our product is capable of. This is turning into a bottleneck for our team! A happy bottleneck, and one that we will meet head on, and quickly. :)

New investor superpower just dropped! Using Powerpoint, @claudeai, and Standard Metrics MCP, our customers can now create bespoke portfolio analysis directly in slides using natural language. 🤗 Ask in plain English: “Create a slide with key details on all the investments I made last quarter.” Claude pulls the right data from Standard Metrics and generates a ready-to-use PowerPoint presentation (sans copy/paste, back-and-forth between tabs, and formatting rabbit holes). Native charts in a coding agent TUI? Should we ship this in @AmpCode?

An agent skill for DataDog I built with Amp’s librarian: github.com/max-muoto/data…. Considering DataDog’s MCP isn’t public yet (and even if it was, I’d still prefer a CLI + skill), this is a decent way to get Datadog plugged into your coding agent for logs/metrics/monitors

The standalone local coding agent, especially when confined to an editor sidebar that you babysit, is dead. It’s time to build what’s next. And we think we’ll be able to do that best and bring you along with us by calling out the truth. To help bring you along, we’re killing the Amp editor extension on March 5. Use the Amp CLI instead. It’s a better path to the future because it means less babysitting in your editor.

Cloudflare Containers & Cloudflare Sandboxes now both support Docker-in-Docker, allowing you to run a Docker daemon inside a container that is itself running on a Docker host. An example use case for Docker-in-Docker would be running a fully sandboxed development environment. Taken from the horse's mouth, this allows you to: - Develop containerized applications with your Sandbox - Run isolated test environments for images - Build container images as part of CI/CD workflows - Deploy arbitrary images supplied at runtime within a container I believe this was a fairly highly requested feature, so I'm excited to see what people build with it!
