@swt3esq @mlbbowman 0 MLB experience. Though I played through college as a starter and reliever and I promise you, your body isn't more/less stressed at any level, especially trying to make a MLB team. There is no dial back when trying to earn a spot at the next level.

Didier Fuentes will start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. Once he gets his pitch count up to 90 over the next couple weeks, there will be a greater chance to see him to be part of Atlanta’s rotation over an extended period

@maxcaron31 @mlbbowman Getting stretched in MLB games is diabolical almost gambling with an injury you don’t want it any way it’s cut. Bullpen is worse but he wouldn’t have stayed on schedule as a starter.

@bobbythebravest @mlbbowman Cut him off at 70/75 whatever when he starts and use Perez or Suarez whoever as long relief. Perez getting shelled for 4 innings doesn't do bullpen any good and cascades effects to other games

@maxcaron31 @mlbbowman Perez is definitely as cheeks but it’s definitely better to get him to 90+ at the AAA level. Hard to just assume long relief appearances at major league level

@AtlBravesFan71 @mlbbowman No it makes sense to start him now. Throwing 70 pitches likely gets him through more innings than Perez/Elder/Suarez throwing 90.

Fuentes will start in Bradenton today. But Weiss indicated the plan is still for Fuentes to open the season as a reliever. Jose Suarez will likely be the fifth starter. Martin Perez is among the candidates to fill Strider's void in the rotation.

@gvedak @LethalPlatypus1 Dodd looks like a better long reliever. Not sure what's left to see in Elder at this point. If your only quality is you can throw 5 innings of 4-5 run ball all year, that can't be enough to keep around. See what you have in Ritchie and Fuentes early on

Question of the day. Does the spring from Didier and JR shorten Bryce's leash? I still think he starts the year as our 5, but 2 or 3 bad outings could lead to a dfa. Thoughts? @gvedak?

@CJNitkowski @mchooyah I mean, this is the last week alone. You can appreciate his service from many years ago, but I have to think there are other motivational speakers to represent the US. And now he's getting a bigger platform to spew this kind of hate.

If you have never heard @mchooyah speak it is highly recommended. I’ve heard him twice, just excellent. Read his book The Operator too, also incredible. Defend the move? What in the actual? Here’s some clarity to yesterday’s Karinchak vs. Suarez debate. Playing 13 straight days to open the season creates reason to carry a long relief option, especially if you want to give your top starters an extra day of rest those first two weeks. Karinchak will be up soon enough. I’m sure many of you will understand and not overreact.
