@j_amesmarriott I wonder if there might be scope to ban it for artistic pursuits, as sort of public interest argument. Or perhaps there will be something analogous to the ethical labelling we have for food - organic, fair trade etc - and that the 'market' can then choose human produced work.

For the avoidance of doubt I'm not saying this piece of writing is amazing. Just that I find it amazing a robot did it - especially as Chat-GPT was much less good a year ago. And I'm not happy about it. I think its terribly sad.

@j_amesmarriott Are you familiar with the midwit meme? 'Mid' is the fattest part of the bell curve and that is absolutely what AI excels at churning out.

I wrote this about AI. We hear a lot about the importance of the "human touch" in the age of of machine intelligence. But the depressing truth is a lot of people just love AI slop. thetimes.com/comment/column…
