Every word.
Mohammed El-Kurd@m7mdkurd

You know, the killing is so relentless that you almost get used to it. A classroom of children killed every single day. You write about it, you read about it. Someone’s mother digs herself up from the rubble. Someone’s father is split in half. There was a video of wounded man using his arms to crawl across the road. Another man is so hungry he weeps. You read the stories. Each one is more brutal than the next and somehow the brutality is banal. You are numb, for better or for worse. But there are moments in the day, maybe just a singular moment, when you actually contend with the magnitude of the tragedy, when you are able to quantify the loss and in those moments you feel crushed—there are no adjectives. There are people mourning their lovers. Students missing their teachers. Orphans. Widowers. Grandmothers who look just like your own. I cry when I think about the people who were martyred just hours before they could apologize for something, or confess to something, or have something to eat. Or the slain who believed they would survive. And as the rancid rotten people of the world pontificate and debate the definition of genocide, you are at war with yourself, trying desperately to ignore the material meaning of the word. You read the news and you read the news and it is so hard to accept that the dead, the thousands of people they are slaughtering, they are your loved ones and your loved ones’ loved ones. This isn’t just a bad dream.

We are appalled by the selective humanity, the double standards, and the selective outrage that continue to shape and define Canadian foreign policy. As Canadian citizens, we refuse to accept a system where human lives are valued differently based on geography, politics, or identity. Citizenship is not passive it carries a responsibility to speak, to question, and to hold our government accountable. Justice cannot be conditional. Compassion cannot be selective. When silence is chosen for some victims and outrage for others, it exposes not only hypocrisy but a profound moral failure. Canada must uphold the principles it claims to stand for. A foreign policy rooted in selective human rights is not principled it is complicit. As citizens, we reject this hierarchy of human worth. We stand for equal dignity, consistent justice, and accountability for all people, everywhere without exception. #CanPoli #IranWar

Canada is appalled by the Iranian Government’s execution of a Swedish citizen in Iran. We offer our deepest condolences to the family and express our full solidarity with Sweden. Canada continues to call on the Iranian regime to respect human rights and uphold their responsibilities under international law.

⚠️ #AymanBaniOwda, also known as Ayman Ghrayeb, Palestinian human rights defender and social worker from Tammoun (Tubas Governorate) in the occupied West Bank, is held without charges or trial in an Israeli jail outside the occupied territory for his human rights work. A father of four, Bani Owda has been arbitrarily detained by Israeli forces since 17 November 2025. An Israeli military court confirmed a six-month administrative detention order against him on 14 December 2025. Call on Israeli authorities to immediately and unconditionally release him: amn.st/6014B6VfCY #FreeAymanBaniOwda

It’s funny, but I can’t find a single instance of Canada being “appalled” at the Israeli government after 900 days of war crimes in Gaza, an illegal war of aggression against Iran, and the forced displacement of a million Lebanese.

@CanadianPM It's pretty rich to blame Iran for using the only leverage they have during an illegal war started by the USA/Israel. A war Canada initially endorsed on day 1 The Davos Doctrine is dead (2026-2026)

@AnitaAnandMP Count me out, Ms. Anand. I do not condemn Iran’s efforts to defend itself against an illegal war of aggression by two nuclear armed adversaries. Like any reasonably conscious person, I condemn Israel’s aggression in the Middle East and its interference in Canadian society.

Of all the departments taking the hardest hits, Statscan sits atop the list. This is an attack on evidence and science far worse than even Harper did, and yet Canadians are lapping it up. globalnews.ca/news/11737460/…

The Legal Centre for Palestine
Last week, Israel’s Military Advocate General announced that charges were dropped against 5 soldiers caught on video perpetrating one of the most high-profile incidents of torture and sexual abuse of a Palestinian held in Israel’s prisons. The horrific actions of these soldiers left the victim, a man taken from Gaza, hospitalized and in need of surgery. Facing International Court of Justice proceedings, Israel has repeatedly claimed that it has its own mechanisms for ensuring accountability for breaches of international law. While torture, neglect, and abuse of Palestinians are systemic in Israel’s prisons and detention centers, this particular case makes it excruciatingly clear that impunity is embedded in the system and enforced at every turn. The Canadian government’s notion of Israel as a democratic partner with shared values must end. The evidence to the contrary is overwhelming. Now is the time for Canada to join international legal efforts to ensure accountability and justice.

I’m forgetting that Israel shot at Canadian diplomats and @AnitaAnandMP did exactly nothing. PS - didn’t she call the Israeli ambassador for questioning? What were the results of that call? “We’re investigating” “It was an accident” “The diplomats are Hamas”

Heard of Palantir? Here’s Palantir’s contract with the NHS explained. A company linked to the Israeli forces’ ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza has NO place in our NHS. NHS trusts can do the right thing and refuse to use Palantir. The time is now. Link in bio to learn more. Get involved: amn.st/6019B6ndEH

Steve Sweeney
Steve Sweeney@SweeneySteve·
Today I$rael tried to kill me in a targeted airstrike in southern Lebanon as I was reporting on was the targeting of bridges and the forced displacement of 1 million people, an ethnic cleansing operation on a larger scale than the Nakba I have absolutely no doubt that this was deliberate. Despite claims there were no warnings ahead of the strike and no notifications sent to the Lebanese Army who allowed us to film As we have seen in Gaza they want to silence journalists who document and report their war crimes It is the western powers who provide political and military support for I$rael, arming it to the teeth to carry out genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing here in Lebanon. They are not simply complicit, but active participants and should be held accountable for their actions. But if I$rael thinks today’s strike will silence us and keep us out of the field they are very, very mistaken

Our correspondent Steve Sweeney has been wounded by an Israeli strike in Lebanon. He says an IDF plane fired upon the car carrying Steve and his cameraman, as they were crossing a bridge in the south of the country. Both men are conscious in hospital, doctors are diagnosing extent of shrapnel damage. War journalists are not legitimate targets. We pray for them.
