NO! And we never were. But they want you to believe that we were and should be because democracy is the vehicle they need to impose their ideology on you by majority vote. The United States was founded as a constitutional republic. The Founders rejected democracy explicitly. Madison called it "incompatible with personal security or the rights of property." Adams said "democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself." They built a system designed to prevent the majority from voting away the rights of the individual. That is what a republic does. That is what democracy destroys. Bernie says billionaires are "buying our political system." He has been in government for 35 years. He is the political system. He has three houses, a net worth of $2-3 million, and has never produced a single product anyone voluntarily purchased. His entire career has been spent deciding how to spend money other people earned. And he wants to lecture the men who actually created wealth about having too much influence. "Public funding of elections" means forcing taxpayers to fund candidates they oppose. That is not removing money from politics. That is forcing you to finance your own opposition. Citizens United held that the government cannot ban political speech. Bernie wants to reverse that because free speech is the one thing a socialist cannot afford to tolerate. When people are free to speak, they are free to oppose him. And that is the real problem he is trying to solve. The solution to corruption in government is not more government control of speech. It is less government worth corrupting. When the government controls trillions in spending, of course billionaires will try to influence it. Reduce the government to its only legitimate function, the protection of individual rights, and there is nothing left to buy.

I’m a “Ben Shapiro conservative.” I accept that I’m part of a dying generation of conservatives, and I lament it because I know what’s rising in its stead. It’s a radical and revolutionary reactionary force that you helped create through years of demonizing and dispossessing white men. From making them scared and desperate. From trying—and often succeeding—in destroying the most milquetoast of conservatives for daring to question your Woke orthodoxy. I was one of those casualties. It cost me everything as a teacher and I’m still a pariah amongst the Leftist ideologues that run our schools—unemployable in public education. I have every reason to hate people like you—and perhaps if I possessed a different temperament I’d be part of the new revolutionary Right. But I’m not, because I know that the polemic wars of the far Left against the new far Right will do to this country that I love. And I should warn you against reveling in Ben’s diminishing audience, because what is replacing it frightens me, and it should utterly terrify you. You’re going to reap what you sowed, and one day, you’ll pray for the return of conservatives like Ben,
New York Magazine@NYMag

There was a time, not very long ago, when Ben Shapiro could reasonably call himself the king of all conservative media. That’s all over now, writes political columnist Ross Barkan. Shapiro’s company, ‘The Daily Wire,’ is instituting significant layoffs. Its YouTube channel’s subscriber base is starting to shrink, and its website has emerged as one of the great traffic losers in conservative media. There are ‘Daily Wire’ YouTube videos that now, after a few days online, have less than 10,000 views, a catastrophically small number for a channel with more than 3 million subscribers. The top comments all mock the low view counts. “If a variety of poor business decisions can be blamed, in part, for the ‘Daily Wire’’s fall from grace — ill-fated investments in feature films, an epic fantasy series, and peculiar merchandise — the greater story is the collapse of Shapiro’s constituency,” writes Barkan. “There are two realities to Shapiro conservatism in 2026: It retains a significant foothold among Republican elites, and it is fast being rejected by the future grassroots of the party.” Read more: nymag.visitlink.me/KtpIKV

What is shameful is that the minority leader of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, a country that fought a war costing 600,000 lives to end slavery based on its founding principle that every individual has a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, would use race to draw political lines that favor his party and then call it justice. The Supreme Court ruled that sorting citizens into congressional districts by the color of their skin is unconstitutional. That is not the ghost of the Confederacy. That is the fulfillment of the principle the Confederacy died fighting against: that a man is an individual, not a representative of his race. Jeffries does not want colorblind districts because colorblind districts do not guarantee his outcomes. He needs racial categories because racial categories produce racial grievances and racial grievances produce voter turnout. The Confederacy grouped people by race and assigned them political status accordingly. Jeffries is demanding the exact same thing with different beneficiaries. He is not fighting the ghost of the Confederacy. He is trying to bring it back to life.
Hakeem Jeffries@RepJeffries

The ghosts of the confederacy have afflicted the Supreme Court. And are haunting the nation. Shameful.

The reason healthcare costs are destroying Americans is because of 60 years of EVIL politicians like @SenSanders. Follow the path. In 1960 Americans paid for their own healthcare and costs were manageable. LBJ created Medicare and Medicaid in 1965, severing the connection between patient and payment. Nixon signed the HMO Act in 1973, restructuring how Americans access care. Each intervention distorted the market. Each distortion was used to justify the next intervention. Bush added Medicare Part D. Obama mandated you buy insurance from private companies under penalty of law. Spending went from $353 per capita in 1970 to over $15,000 today. A 600% increase in real terms. Now you point to the wreckage your ideology created and say the solution is more of it. You do not have a right to another person's labor. A doctor spent a decade learning his skill. A nurse works 12 hour shifts. You cannot claim their effort as something owed to you because you need it. That is not a right. That is servitude. Every country with universal healthcare rations care, restricts access, and depends on American pharmaceutical innovation to survive. You want to kill the only system still producing cures.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

The function of a rational healthcare system is NOT to provide huge profits to insurance companies. It is to guarantee healthcare to all as a human right. We must no longer be the only major country without universal healthcare. We must pass Medicare for All.

Ballots were already in voters' hands in Louisiana, yet the Supreme Court still threw out its own 32-day waiting period to ram through a gerrymander. At this point, there is no doubt that they are not just putting their finger on the scale, but acting as an arm of the Republican Party. democracydocket.com/news-alerts/su…

It is rather extreme to have such an inept ideologue as Justice Jackson on the Supreme Court. The Democrats should be embarrassed. Here is another clear example: How is it possible to believe (as Justice Jackson does) that talk therapy can be banned, but puberty blockers and hormone treatment cannot? (As she opined in United States v. Skrmetti.) Puberty blockers and hormone treatment are a far more invasive treatment than talk therapy. So if talk therapy can be banned, puberty blockers can too. There is even a further free speech argument in the case for not being able to ban talk therapy. It is quite clear that she makes her rulings not based on the law, or on logical consistency, but on her personal ideological alignment. The use of puberty blockers is viewed favorably by many progressive, while conversion talk therapy is not. That is why she makes logically inconsistent rulings.

Imagine a man says on camera: "If you cared about Medicare fraud, you would kill Rick Scott." Now imagine that instead of being arrested, he is invited to Yale, given credentials at Obama's Democratic National Convention, streams with AOC, and Ro Khanna says he has "no regrets" and "would go again." His name is Hasan Piker. He told millions of followers to kill a sitting US Senator. He said "America deserved 9/11." He said "it doesn't matter if rapes happened on October 7th" and called documented sexual violence "rape fantasies." He campaigned with Cori Bush and NYC Mayor Mamdani. Ilhan Omar appeared on his streams. Twitch banned him. The DOJ did nothing. The Democratic Party promoted him. The next time any Democrat lectures you about "dangerous rhetoric" or "threats to democracy," remember the man their party is campaigning with and what he IS saying then and now.
