Ive held the hands of women who were incarcerated and had been raped by guards who werent even far away. My mother was murdered by the prison system. 600 women are suing the government for illegal sterilizations while they were incarcerated.
One white woman dies and laws change. I have enough nuanced thought to weep for both. But damn do I weep for the lack of humanity for the rest of the women harmed by police.

Black women aren’t being nitpicky when they say “Say Her Name” shouldn’t be used for Renee Nicole Good. Say Her Name was created by Black women as a response to Black women’s violence by police and the erasure of those experiences, including us not knowing their names.

Keith Porter was a Black man killed by ICE on New Years Eve.
Marimar Martinez was shot 5 times in Chicago & survived.
