I decided some time ago that I don't argue with stupid people. I just say "I don't agree personally but others might" and then get on with my day. Give it a try. It can really free up your life to achieve something useful instead. #JustSaying

A short walk in the Great British Countryside sunshine with 4 paws before the chaos of #Christmas2025. Thanks to all my readers for a fantastic 2025. Regular top 50 on #KindleUnlimited I'm truly grateful. Watch out 2026, there is much more to come. #MerryChristmas #IndieAuthor

We've just released the latest images of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, as observed by eight different spacecraft, satellites, and telescopes. Here's what we've learned about the comet — and how we're studying it across the solar system: go.nasa.gov/4o3hp92

This is really wonderful. A visitor from another solar system that may well be older than our solar system. I think with all the nonsense around this comet we’re in danger of missing how fascinating it is (and how much we’ll learn from a scientific point of view!)

Just captured interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS from Sabadell Observatory barely an hour ago — a bit blurry due to its low altitude, but still amazing to see! ☄️✨ #3IATLAS #Astronomy

You are a taker, not a maker. All you’ve done your whole life is take from the makers of the world. The zero-sum mindset you have is at the root of so much evil. Once you realize that civilization is not zero-sum and that it is about making far more than one consumes, then it becomes obvious that the path to prosperity for all is just let the makers make. Regarding Tesla, the reality is that I have been given nothing. However, if I lead Tesla to become the most valuable company in the world by far and it stays that way for 5 years, shareholders voted to award me 12% of what is built. Anyone who wants to come along for the ride can buy Tesla stock. If Tesla “merely” becomes a $1.999 trillion dollar company, I get nothing. This is a great deal for shareholders, which is why they voted so overwhelmingly to approve this, for which I am immensely grateful. And they did so by a margin far more than you won your political seat.

Just to be clear - given recent drivel on line - Comet 3I/Atlas is a comet, made of carbon dioxide and water ices and bits of other stuff. It is entirely natural in origin, its orbit is as expected and it will whizz around the sun and then disappear off into the galaxy again. If it ever encounters another inhabited solar system in the far future I hope the living things there are more sensible than us and enjoy it for what it is - a visitor from elsewhere in the galaxy - a pristine lump of rock and ices which formed around a distant, maybe long-dead star billions of years ago and many light years away, just passing through. Isn’t that wonderful enough?

Today is Battle of Britain Day, when we remember The Few, who defended our nation and fought against tyranny. We must never forget the sacrifice they made for our freedom. #LestWeForget #BoB85 #battleofbritainday

I’m reading a paper on why there exists something rather than nothing. It begins ‘In my opinion, nothing useful has ever been written on the question in the title, and small is the contribution that I have to offer.’ :-)

There is coverage when things go wrong with @NHSEngland so I'm pleased to post this. I fainted yesterday and hit my head. From the MK Ambulance to the team at SDEC Stoke Mandeville @BucksHealthcare, the treatment received was professional, swift & caring. Thank you to the Team!

I was OK with the Global IT outage until I heard that #waitrose cannot take contactless payments. It really is the end of days. So this is how it ends. Not with a bang but the whimper of a software update. #verybritshproblems #disaster

Honestly - a few of the replies to this little tribute to engineering excellence exhibit a level of stupidity that suggests to me that it won’t be long before our spacecraft are the only thing that remains of our increasingly dim-witted civilisation. Until recently my guess has been that the answer to the Fermi Paradox might be found in biology - complex biological systems are rare. I’m increasingly of the view that the reason for The Great Silence is that civilisations are inevitably crushed by the weight of nobheads shortly after inventing the internet.

It never ceases to amaze me that a spacecraft launched in 1977 can be fixed remotely from Earth.
