#VolcanoWatch this week summarizes the natural events at Kīlauea’s summit last week, heavy tephra fallout on March 10 followed days later by a powerful Kona low, which echo the interactions of Pele, Lono, and Hiʻiaka described in Native Hawaiian oral traditions. 🌋🌧️🌱 Learn More: usgs.gov/observatories/… 📸1: Kīlauea lava fountains on June 29, 2025, with red lehua blossoms of the native ʻōhia tree framing the foreground. 📸2: Partially tephra-buried ʻamaʻu fern that was unfurling new fronds on May 11, 2025, just a few hundred yards (meters) from the western rim of Halemaʻumaʻu crater and the active eruptive vents in Halemaʻumaʻu at the summit of Kīlauea.

HiPOD: Lava in Athabasca Valles Evidence of large-scale flooding by lava is revealed by a number of features. When the crust breaks apart, rafted sections give an appearance of patterns that can be fit back together like a jigsaw puzzle. uahirise.org/ESP_090181_1875 #Mars #NASA

A new research project will map the extent of environmental wear due to increased tourism. This is especially important in the north, where nature takes longer to recover than in the south, says researcher Elina Hutton. en.highnorthnews.com/science/new-pr…

When OSIRIS-REx reached the asteroid Bennu in 2018, scientists expected to find a smooth, beach-like surface. Instead, they encountered a jagged, rugged world. Samples of the asteroid, brought back to Earth in 2023, are helping untangle the mystery: go.nasa.gov/4cMGBPb

#patrouilledefrance #athos #film #cinema
