@bballbreakdown @sdskol1983 @OfficialNBARefs They are, and it’s almost like sometimes they let emotions of the game and who the player is dictate a call

@mcann333 @sdskol1983 @OfficialNBARefs Counterpoint - sometimes, every once in a great while, the refs are human

@bballbreakdown Officiating consistency of spoiled milk.

Playoffs 2024 WCF, this is called a charge by Luka, it got challenged by the Timberwolves and the call was upheld. The NBA posted it as such to their official TikTok. Can someone explain to me the difference here? Surely this isn’t enough time for Ant to change directions.
English

@travbryanmusic @clmxvisuals ref felt like the offensive player had a chance to avoid the contact. Not sure if that's the case, but that's what she thought at least
English

There's a distinct difference between these two plays that makes them incomparable. Who can tell me what it is? (And it has everything to do with the actual rulebook)
Tommy Beer@TommyBeer
One of these was called an offensive foul... one was not
English

@bballbreakdown I mean does SGA not flail awkwardly too and get calls? I don’t disagree as I’ve watched KAT all year, but the contact in the beginning of this play you said was a foul happens to KAT a lottt and it’s let go and the clamp is the focus instead.
English

@mcann333 I don't know if you saw the quick edit of KAT offensive fouls but it's obvious to me, with his awkward flailing, why he'd get called for them
English

@bballbreakdown That’s all fine, but people are more upset at the inconsistency with KAT being the player vs SGA. Being that technical implies there’s an even playing field w these calls are there’s not. Agree to disagree.
English

@mcann333 I'm looking at this like a ref would. And then I'm trying to help folks out here understand this play through their lens. That's all. Nothing SGA did got close to the level of an offensive foul per the rule book. Refs can't call what's not in the rulebook
English

@bballbreakdown You’re really going that route? There’s definitely evidence of the hook I don’t know what else to you . And the refs are also not watching from this angle, they can see this too in live play and they should call it more consistently not just by who the player is.
English

There's no evidence of a clamp from this replay angle, and nothing that happens in this clip rises to the level of an offensive foul. KAT is reaching in and disrupting his speed, rhythm, quickness, and balance. He then whacks him across the arm as SGA pulls up. It looks, if anything, like SGA is just trying to get KAT's arm off of him. And for KAT to play it like this with 5 fouls is also extremely suboptimal
English

@bballbreakdown Also one of the “random fans” is Rit who is respected analyst and originally responded to this with the correct take. But keep dismissing everyone. Really makes you look good.
English

@mcann333 If you want to side with random fans instead of someone who knows the rulebook better than anyone other than professional referees, it's up to you. Doesn't make you right, though. I'm just here to help.
English

@bballbreakdown Your original post was just wrong and people are correctly explaining why. Got the reaction you wanted tho like usual so it’s all par for course
English

@mcann333 May I remind you that these are folks sliding into my mentions so I'm not the one arguing just to argue. I'm just an impartial judge on what was clearly a defensive foul
English

@bballbreakdown @BenRitholtzNBA Arguing just to argue then nitpicking at the “clamp” term. Nicely done. The sufficient contact started when SGA “clamped” his arm with KAT’s. That’s why it was called a foul afterwards. It’s pretty obvious and it’s something KAT gets called for all the time .

If Sam Darnold prevents the Patriots from winning a Super Bowl, I’d argue he was worth the #3 pick in 2018 for the Jets
