@londonHenryGB The trade balance measures the difference between exports and imports, not the total volume of trade. A negative balance just means the UK was buying more from abroad than it was selling after that point.

@thekitze Serious answer - lots. There are cities, businesses, towns, villages, countryside etc. Lots of remote workers in tech jobs. Same as many other countries.
It’s less densely populated than London, and there’s less money in general, but there’s lots to see and do.

It's just insane that a person with no children earning between £100-125k pays an effective marginal tax rate of 62% in the UK. If you do have kids you're actually worse off earning over 100k than you would be below it with childcare subsidies.

The oil shock has yet to arrive in the west. Blue line = Global Oil in Transit (left axis, Drops from 1.7B barrels to 1.4): This tracks the total volume of crude physically sailing on tankers globally. It rose steadily through 2025, then in March 2026, there is a cliff-edge collapse of roughly ~300 mb, as empty tankers cannot be reloaded. Red line = OECD Europe + Americas Commercial Crude (right axis, 0.95B barrels): This tracks commercial crude inventories held by Western buyers. Despite the tanker collapse, this line has barely moved — when it finally does, the physical shock will have arrived.

idk i went to europe a long time ago, when canada was super safe and it always felt kind of sketch to me ... i took the train late at night and one guy tried to stab another, people i met got their car broken into in broad daylight in barcelona, visible sketch morrocans on street corner approaching you for drugs in amsterdam. paris there was dog shit everywhere have to walk looking down all the time to not step in it

I just moved to Cyprus 🇨🇾 My first impressions and why I moved: > it's safe (unlike rest of Europe) > friendly people (unlike rest of Europe) > quiet > clean air > fast WiFi > tax friendly > great coffee > amazing food > very walkable > incredible weather > affordable (€2 for coffee, €7 for meal) > great laptop cafe culture (unlike rest of Europe) > growing tech scene (unlike rest of Europe) It's been so long since I had somewhere I could lock in from and call home. I was torn between UAE and Cyprus but the last month made my decision for me. And so far I am so happy with my decision.
