@wren6991 sorry cheeky rp2040 question again :) on a run of 5 boards, SWD fails with DAP Init failed on 4/5. fine on 1/5. internet tells me dodgy wires. using picoprobe + supplied 3pin ribbon JST connectors; lowering adaptor speed doesnt help. at the connector, the clock and data

New PhD thesis just publicly dropped (see if you can spot the pun).
If you've always wondered about DNA data storage but don't know much about it, pages 1-4 might be helpful! digital.lib.washington.edu/researchworks/…

@Patrick_RISCV @ico_TC I will become interested as soon as openocd support is published/upstreamed!
English

@BrentiumBrent I suppose there will be a few satellite parties at local minima, too

@EdmondsPolice Hey I just watched three cars slide down the hill at Walnut and 9th after driving up it. There's a closure sign at the top, but not at the bottom. It seems like it would be good to add some closure signs at the bottom...

@xa329 @matthewvenn I did it during my undergrad in 2005 as well, via MOSIS. It's not liked it has been unavailable?
English

@matthewvenn That is shabby. My British university had standard cell CAD tools and a commercial partner that would include small designs on some silicon at an affordable cost - in the mid 80s!

"It’s rare for students, especially undergrads, to have an opportunity to work on an actual tapeout and produce manufactured chips."
Something that's growing more and more accessible!
I predict within a few years all VLSI undergrads get to do a tapeout.

What does it take to design a microchip from scratch, prepare it for the foundry, and get a functioning microcontroller back? bit.ly/3VO0KZK @MicrochipMakes @circuitcellar @CornellEng

I wish they had linked the better version on vimeo -- and pointed out in the description -- instead of the youtube video, but so it goes I guess :).

@BrentiumBrent I have no affection for twitter, but thought that all the doomsday predictions were way overblown. But it sounds like this transition has gone worse than I thought plausible...
I wish there was a market price for twitter stock to observe 🍿

I liked twitter way more than crypto :(

Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended. No details given as to why, per the Platformer.

According to pruvisto.org/debirdify/, about 15% of the people I follow here already have mastodon accounts in their twitter profile!
English

@futileboy Well did you know that Mastondon (and other federated social things) use a protocol called WebFinger? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebFinger
English

@futileboy I do get this. I'm on google fi, and I figured it was just google doing some spam filtering? But I've never really dug into it.
English

@tom_verbeure Can confirm that bringing up your own chip is in fact a thrill. I got to do it in undergrad, and the day it came in my partner and I dropped everything to wire it up (it worked!). MOSIS has been doing this for free (or maybe my school paid a fee?) for a while.
English

During @matthewvenn’s 2 hour #tinytapeout workshop at @hackaday #Supercon, I went from a blank page to a 130nm tape-out ready GDS2 file for my custom piece of logic. Production cost: $125, or even lower if you can share a PCB with others!

English

@mcbridejc I need a bigger battery. Also forgot to charge up the steam deck. Thankfully the power is back.
