@Ufandil @NickHutsonMusic There's a relativity to consider as well. With Lucas saying that Star Wars is a movie for 12 year olds. but enjoyed by everyone, music is a very big part of the pre-teen immersive experience, I would venture (and personally recall!).

@NickHutsonMusic There is also a giant disconnect in the discourse about immersive experiences. The meaning of immersion to naratologists or average Joe is completely different. Social media may have democratised the discourse, but it has not closed the knowledge gap.

I’ve always been torn on whether music makes a world more “immersive” or whether a land can just down with merely sound design. This is proof that non diegetic music always wins over diegetic sound design.
