Trump says he’ll hit back at the European Union for announcing retaliatory 50 percent tariffs on American whiskey and other products, threatening to levy a 200 percent tariff on E.U. wines and alcohol coming into the United States. Madness. But Europe should match that. What need Europe of Kentucky bourbon or Californian merlot when it has Scotch and Bordeaux?

Their result: Kabul was taken by the Taliban. And President Ghani fled. Trump’s plan would hand Ukraine to Russia before long, too. And pose a mortal threat to 🇪🇺, too. But Ukrainians defend their own country. And Zelensky is no Ghani. 1. I think it's reasonable to assume that the large majority of people on yesterday's Palestine march were there for humanitarian reasons. 2. But it's depressing how little responsibility any of them take to argue with and disavow the minority of extremists and antisemites.

How about something like ‘These views are my own and not those of the BBC’ from @GaryLineker and a ‘Sorry if we over-reacted’ from the BBC? The BBC tearing itself further apart is the sort of thing that gets anti-state fundamentalists on the Right out of bed in the morning.
