4. But the America of these heroes fought against tyrants, it did not flatter them. It was the enemy of fascism, not the friend of Putin. It helped the resistance and didn't attack Zelensky.

The Trump-Musk-Vance alliance isn’t just chaos—it’s sabotage. •betraying NATO •abandoning Ukraine •hurting our economies •weakening our democracies •undermining alliances This circus boasts about “greatness + efficiency,” while they endanger peace, jobs, + our way of life
Andrew Neil@afneil

Trump says he’ll hit back at the European Union for announcing retaliatory 50 percent tariffs on American whiskey and other products, threatening to levy a 200 percent tariff on E.U. wines and alcohol coming into the United States. Madness. But Europe should match that. What need Europe of Kentucky bourbon or Californian merlot when it has Scotch and Bordeaux?

You start a trade war. Then cry ‘foul’ when the country you’ve targeted retaliates (which is what happens in a trade war). And then you promise hell, fire and brimstone cos you’re not getting your way 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is what happens when someone appeases barbarians. More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Another tragic night in Ukraine.

The silence from much of the Washington DC think tank world, while Trump is actively helping Putin kill Ukrainians is shocking. Where are all the analysts who were saying that they supported Ukraine?

The US “deal” with Putin on Ukraine is increasingly resembling the US “deal” with the Taliban on Afghanistan with the same fictitious “guarantees” - providing a space for bad actors without delivering any positive shape to events on the ground…
Gerald Knaus@rumeliobserver

Illusions persist. Reality: The mineral deal is fake, political theatre. To read more why: x.com/rumeliobserver… The “negotiations” with Putin are as solid as the 2020 Trump plan for Afghanistan. Their result: Kabul was taken by the Taliban. And President Ghani fled. Trump’s plan would hand Ukraine to Russia before long, too. And pose a mortal threat to 🇪🇺, too. But Ukrainians defend their own country. And Zelensky is no Ghani. That is the cause of Trump’s anger. @P_Kallioniemi @PieterOmtzigt @ministerBZ @sikorskiradek @anneapplebaum @JoWadephul @ClaudMajor @ConStelz @joerglau

1. I think it's reasonable to assume that the large majority of people on yesterday's Palestine march were there for humanitarian reasons. 2. But it's depressing how little responsibility any of them take to argue with and disavow the minority of extremists and antisemites.

It’s already been said by many but it needs to keep being said. This is on the Home Secretary. And by keeping her in post the Prime Minister is endorsing her message that challenging the police is fine. Which results in scenes like this.

Extremists exist in our society; islamists, far right, islamophobes, antisemites. The job of a government is to keep those extremists under control& avoid pouring petrol onto smouldering tensions. Our government has failed in that responsibility.

‘Dusk Moon’ is a stunning etching by @mcclure996 (Calum McClure) We borrowed it’s title for our latest record and were delighted to tie this album in with 2018s ‘In Praise of Home’, featuring ‘Light Shadows in the Botanics’. His work is special - check it out! #art #etching

How about something like ‘These views are my own and not those of the BBC’ from @GaryLineker and a ‘Sorry if we over-reacted’ from the BBC? The BBC tearing itself further apart is the sort of thing that gets anti-state fundamentalists on the Right out of bed in the morning.
