Monday's horse racing thread 🧵
Chepstow 2.48 Stockpyle 5/6
Chepstow 3.18 Feeraas 5/6
Carlisle 4.00 Alpine Sierra 5/1
Carlisle 5.00 Questionable 13/8
Windsor 7.00 Gisburn 10/1 each way
Windsor 7.30 Queen's Guard 2/1 (NAP)
Windsor 8.00 Metabolt 15/8
I know he is a short price now but this really does look like a penalty kick for STOCKPYLE having won convincingly enough at Kempton last week. If he handles the quick turnaround he should follow up against these, priced accordingly.
Another skinny price but again FEERAAS showed enough when third on debut to be of strong interest here. Inexperience likely cost him that day and doesn't have a great deal to beat so definitely warrants cramped odds. (double with Stockpyle pays around 9/4 so worth backing)
I thought it was interesting that ALPINE SIERRA was never put in the race on reappearance at Musselburgh. He left that behind to finish a good third at Ayr last time and off the same mark if building on that again with the yard coming into form he could go close in this. Price is right to play.
The money is coming for QUESTIONABLE and it is easy to see why. She was beat just a short head on handicap debut and with the front pair clear from the rest I don't think she'll need much more to get off the mark. Only concern is she can be keen and there isn't a great deal of pace on but other than that she has the most potential of these.
I'm aware GISBURN has caught the eye a few times in defeat so not one to go mad on but given the price he is definitely worth chancing here. Ran on well and was nearest finish at Haydock last time and dropped another 1lb if this pans out more favourably he is definitely capable of landing a blow. Probably more of a place bet (at around 7/4) but backed him each way too at a double-figure price.
I was impressed with that win from QUEEN'S GUARD at Lingfield. Handicapper reacted raising her 7lb but that is with good reason given the turn of foot she showed to leave rivals standing. More to come back on turf and this quick ground should be to her liking as well. Looks progressive and should follow up against these and is my strongest bet of the day.
I thought METABOLT knuckled down well to get back to winning ways at Leicester last time. Beat a good yardstick in Mitrosonfire and the third Hat Toss has run well at Chepstow since so the form definitely has substance. Even the sixth Red Mirage and seventh Charencey both placed next time out so it is stacking up nicely. 3lb rise shouldn't stop him following up.
