@mcdillio

Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while - and do whatever you want, all the time - you can miss it.

Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms. But it was he who made the effort for that to be possible. We did some media together also to laugh through some of the things we put each other through many years ago. Most recently we had even been discussing him running my Late Model at Wilkesboro this summer. He seemed extremely happy and we had planned to meet up next Thursday to get his seat to the shop. He laughed over the idea of his fans and JRM fans having to cheer in unison during that race. Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many. My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.

@wolf298d @Jordan_Bianchi They don't want to start the regular season before labor day weekend, so yes it would move the Superbowl back a week.

@Jordan_Bianchi When they went to 17 it didn’t change SB dates and neither will going to 18, because the eliminate a preseason game. If they add another bye week it would affect dates.

It's inevitable the NFL eventually follows through and expands its season by week. The byproduct of such a move is the Super Bowl landing on the Sunday of President's Day weekend -- Daytona 500's traditional date.

Robert Kraft wants to extend the NFL schedule 👀 “Every team will go to 18 (regular-season games) and two (preseason games) and eliminate one of the preseason games. Every team, every year, will play one game overseas.”

@GoinRounds @jeff_gluck That's the point; most people already have access to ESPN, they're not paying for ESPN just for F1. Most people don't have Apple TV, and they're not going to subscribe just to watch F1.

This seems like one of the biggest possible missteps F1 can make right now. They had a chance to continue with ESPN for less money and instead took the bigger payday (with promised Apple promotion) to put every race behind a paywall. Luke writes F1 “believes this move can help it gain more popularity and compete with mainstream American sports.” Good luck with that. Whatever the difference financially between leaving ESPN and going to Apple TV is not worth the injection into the mainstream consciousness ESPN provides. They’re taking a gamble Apple can give them a similar push, but that’s a huge risk. This is the path to making your sport more niche, not growing it — and F1’s growth has been largely built on the casuals. Maybe this is NASCAR PTSD speaking, but I can’t see how this goes well.

@JRMotorsports @BrandtRacing @BRANDT_co @J_Allgaier How about one paint scheme, one color scheme, that works for all sponsors over the season? I miss iconic paint schemes, and I think not having recognizable cars each week is bad for nascar.

I know this isn’t the point of the story, but flagging a nugget in here I hadn’t seen reported: NASCAR says ticket sales are up 6 percent this year.

@TohokuSix_1 @GeneralMCNews Right—and that’s the key: if the court agrees. So no, Abbott can’t just wave his hand and boot people from office. It’s a legal process, not a decree. Long shot? Absolutely. And it’ll drag well into 2026—if it even sticks.

@DanielleTrotta @Speaker_Pat @markmartin @Megafrayder2 Very out of touch with most fans. The old system rewarded consistency, it rewarded wins, and it featured eliminations; as soon as you could no longer mathematically win the championship, you were eliminated.

@Speaker_Pat @markmartin @Megafrayder2 Mark you know I love you but what we got is a whole lot better than what we used to do. We need a playoff we need eliminations we need to reward winning and consistency. This format does it all & is highly entertaining!

@bobpockrass But what if the teams win im December? If NASCAR already sells the charters to other teams, and they are forced to pay 23XI/FRM back, then how would they get their charters back? Wouldn't that screw the other teams that would purchase them? Sounds risky

Correct. Before original injunction, teams were given a payout structure for 32 charters with a higher payout structure than there would be for 36 charters. NASCAR is expected to ask the court to force 23XI/FRM to pay back the charter $ so NASCAR can give to teams that signed.
MRSiebmann@MR_Siebmann

@bobpockrass Bob ~ if 23XI & Front Row have to run as open cars, is there more money available for the other teams? Does NASCAR distribute those dollars or waits until legal issues are settle or more in their pocket?

@GeneralMCNews I voted Republican for the first time in my life. I’m not behind this move 😡. WTH…so now these agencies are not allowed to communicate about things like salmonella and food recalls AND we’re also officially withdrawing from the WHO 🧐. As a moderate, I have questions 🙋🏼‍♀️

@keselowski Yeah let's not call out the government on ridiculous spending. I was a nuclear engineer at a shipyard related to one of your sponsors and I saw stupid spending every day. $1000+ for rubber gaskets made from the exact rubber you can buy at ace hardware. The over spending is dumb.

These bolts are used in critical areas that often time separate life and death. They are inspected at every level to make sure someone comes back home alive, which costs time and money. They were created from lessons learned when people did not live as a result of using low quality hardware. Worth every penny… From someone who builds and maintains high dollar hardware- let’s not allow messaging like this to throw away the wisdom of those who came before us so a few people can score some virtue points.

@jeff_gluck We need someone with influence like @TonyStewart to assemble a group of investors to raise $20m, then announce that they will award 15 to the team with the most race-win points on the season and donate 5 to the charity of their choice. Then see which prize the teams go after.
