This will happen only in India! In any other civilised country this 12th century sculpture of Dhakshinamurthy will be kept most protected and taken utmost care! Fortunately this is totally intact! Look at the close up shot - how wonderful His face is! But, here we do not think that this is important and hence kept it in the garden outside the Govt Museum, Chennai open to the vagaries of weather, when 1000s of Sq Meters of space is available inside the museum! Ever seen a monument built "backwards"? Most grand structures reach for the sky, but Rani ki Vav 🏛️💧 (The Queen’s Stepwell) in Gujarat, India, plunges seven stories into the earth. The reason the carvings look so pristine today? Around 13th century, the Saraswati river flooded and silted up the entire stepwell. It remained buried and forgotten under layers of sand for nearly 700 years until it was excavated by archaeologists in the 1980s. The silt actually acted as a preservative, protecting the delicate carvings from erosion and invaders.

Jal Mandir Pawapuri, Nalanda Bihar (INDIA) Jal Mandir — the "Water Temple" — stands serenely at the heart of Pawapuri, one of Jainism's holiest pilgrimage sites in Bihar. It was here that Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara, attained moksha (final liberation) in 527 BCE. According to tradition, so many devoted pilgrims came to collect the sacred soil from his cremation ground that the hollow left behind filled with water, forming the vast lotus pond that surrounds the shrine today. A graceful white marble causeway leads across the still, flower-strewn water to the elegant temple at its centre. The reflection of the white marble against the lotus-covered lake lends the site an almost ethereal calm. जापान से आई मधु को राजस्थान की समृद्ध संस्कृति से खास लगाव है, इसलिए वे यहाँ अक्सर आती-जाती रहती हैं। इस बार वे प्रसिद्ध गणगौर उत्सव का अनुभव लेने भारत आईं। मधु पहले 3 दिन जयपुर में रहीं, जहाँ उन्होंने गणगौर के रंग-बिरंगे माहौल, पारंपरिक झांकियों और लोकनृत्य का आनंद लिया। इसके बाद वे उदयपुर पहुँचीं और गणगौर उत्सव के चौथे दिन इसमें शामिल हुईं। उदयपुर उनका यह तीसरा दौरा है, लेकिन गणगौर उत्सव को इतने करीब से देखने का यह उनका पहला अनुभव था। यहाँ की झीलों के किनारे सजा उत्सव, महिलाओं का पारंपरिक पहनावा, लोकगीत और नृत्य ने उन्हें बेहद प्रभावित किया। मधु ने बताया कि उन्हें राजस्थान की संस्कृति, यहाँ का पहनावा, संगीत और लोगों का व्यवहार बहुत पसंद है। यही कारण है कि वे बार-बार राजस्थान आना पसंद करती हैं। उन्होंने इस अनुभव को अपने जीवन का एक यादगार और खास पल बताया।

The Majestic Aazhi Therottam, Asia’s Largest Chariot Festival Today (March 29, 2026) The grand Aazhi Therottam of Thiruvarur Sri Thyagarajaswamy Temple will be celebrated on the auspicious Ayilyam Natchathiram during the 36-day Panguni Peruvizha Brahmotsavam. On March 28, 2026 (Saturday) at around 7:00 PM, Sri Thyagaraja Swami will ceremoniously proceed from Yathasthanam to Aazhi Ther via Vittavasal, performing the sacred Ajapa Nadanam. On March 29, 2026 (Sunday), the Therottam (chariot procession) of the five deities will take place through the temple streets as per the scheduled timings. The beautifully decorated Aazhi Ther stands at an impressive 96 feet tall •Simhasanam: 30 feet •Kattumanam: 66 feet The massive chariot weighs around 300 tonnes Modernization by BHEL, Tiruchi includes hydraulic brakes fitted on all four 9-feet-high iron wheels The chariot is pulled using four giant ropes, each 425 feet long, with a total weight of about 4 tonnes The Aazhi Ther is adorned with intricate sculptures of Lord Brahma, four horses, Yaali, and various deities from the temple This majestic chariot is glorified in the sacred Panniru Thirumurai, Thevaram hymns sung by the revered Nayanmars

Presently displayed at the Archaeological Museum at the World Heritage Site of Konark Sun Temple, the majestic idol of Surya is depicted standing in samapada (standing straight) on a triratha (three tiered) chariot drawn by seven horses. Charioteer Arun is shown seated in front of his feet. The deity holds full bloom lotus flowers in both hands and is shown wearing long boots along with a coat of mail over his chest. On either side of Surya stand two attendants, each holding a sword and shield, completing the composition with a sense of balance and formality.
