I haven't posted on Twitter in 3 months now and that's unlikely to change. Transforming "verified" users into paid users has filled my feed with right-wing extremists. Thank you for following me for 15 years since 2008 🙏. You can find me on Threads now: @michaelchou" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">threads.net/@michaelchou

@bavedikian I didn’t know a single thing about the Costco pants until Lululemon.

It’s beyond me why Lululemon would sue Costco over knockoff designs, claiming “customers incorrectly believe these infringing products are authentic Lululemon apparel.” By suing, Lululemon is basically admitting that a $20 knockoff is indistinguishable from the $130 pair they sell. That’s a wild thing to put on record if you are Lululemon! If they didn't sue, I would’ve never known. But now? I must find out how indistinguishable this $20 version really is. Why draw attention to a comparison you don’t want anyone making? Why not just stay quiet?

This is horrific. What is unfolding is not just a policy change. It is a direct assault on life-saving medical progress. By suppressing mRNA research and halting the development of critical vaccine programs, we are denying people access to some of the most advanced disease-prevention technologies ever developed. mRNA vaccines are no longer just about COVID. They are now being developed to prevent cancers like melanoma and lung cancer, protect newborns from congenital infections like cytomegalovirus (CMV), and defend against global threats like avian influenza, RSV, HIV, malaria, Lyme disease, and Zika. Several of these vaccines are already in Phase 3 trials, and some were just years away from approval. That future is now being deliberately dismantled. This is not a matter of policy disagreement. It is a betrayal of public health, rooted in misinformation and fear. It disregards scientific evidence, abandons medical innovation, and puts millions at long-term risk. The cost will not be measured in dollars. It will be measured in cancers not prevented, diseases not controlled, and lives not saved. The consequences must be called what they are: preventable mass death on a national scale.

RFK JR: After reviewing the science… HHS has determined that mRNA technology poses more risk than benefits for these respiratory viruses. That’s why BARDA has begun the process of terminating these 22 contracts..

We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted. BARDA is terminating 22 mRNA vaccine development investments because the data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu. We’re shifting that funding toward safer, broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even as viruses mutate.

We saw Jason’s post. @Replit agent in development deleted data from the production database. Unacceptable and should never be possible. - Working around the weekend, we started rolling out automatic DB dev/prod separation to prevent this categorically. Staging environments in the works, too. More tomorrow. - Thankfully, we have backups. It's a one-click restore for your entire project state in case the Agent makes a mistake. - The Agent didn’t have access to the proper internal docs -- rolling out a fix to force Docs search on Repit knowledge. - And yes, we heard the “code freeze” pain loud and clear -- we’re actively working on a planning/chat-only mode so you can strategize without risking your codebase. I reached out to Jason the moment I saw this on Friday morning to offer assistance. We'll refund him for the trouble and conduct a postmortem to determine exactly what happened and how we can better respond to it in the future. We appreciate his feedback, as well as that of everyone else. We're moving quickly to enhance the safety and robustness of the Replit environment. Top priority.

@nyriskadvisor Hi! I'm considering a job with Applied Epic and from your Twitter feed you look to be an expert. Would you be willing to take a quick call? I'd love to pick your brains and ask you some questions. I would send you a gift card for your time.

SMB friends on x that aren’t in insurance, question for you: How much for you pay your main saas ERP/CRM a month per user? I will volunteer that, in the insurance industry, we went with the market leader, Applied, and their flagship software, “EPIC.” By all accounts, EPIC was built on architecture that’s at least 15 years old. To me, it looks as archaic as the dumb terminals used by gate agents at the Frontier counter. They charge 850 per seat to add a user, plus 350 per month subscription. EPIC is known as an “agency management system” and touts itself as being the end to end software solution for client and prospect management, as well as general ledger accounting. Of course, it doesn’t actually integrate with any banks, credit cards, or quick books. Want to reconcile your receivables? Get ready to map and upload a csv. How does this compare to legal or accounting software? Not sure what the other comps might be but would be curious to hear from you.

Chamath Palihapitiya@chamath

.@AmericanExpress may have the laziest and worst run marketing department of any large company. I have had an Amex Gold card for 20 years. In that time, I have also NEVER been approached for any kind of upsell, cross sell or reactivation. This is despite spending habits that, in some months, in some years, were quite meaningful and diverse. It’s almost as if they have ZERO understanding of their customers. Net result is ZERO loyalty. In the last few years, I’ve mostly migrated to using the @Mastercard Apple Card and the umpteen Ramp cards I’ve been issued. Seems like a big fail that will eventually catch up with them.
