VO₂max represents the cardiorespiratory adaptations to exercise. It is a great metric but not the endpoint.
In elite sports, we learned this decades ago. Two athletes can have the same VO₂max, yet perform very differently as the differentiator is not the cardiorespiratory capacity but the local metabolic adaptations at the muscle and cellular level which are represented by lactate.
That’s why lactate became central. It tells us how well mitochondria handle energy, how efficiently fuel is used, and where metabolic limitations really are.
Longevity will follow the same path.
VO₂max is a useful global marker, but it’s a proxy. Metabolic health at the cellular level is the real driver of performance, resilience and long-term health.
We moved beyond VO₂max in sport.
Longevity science will be next.
@TomMendozaTalks@NDFootball Every Domer should be proud to be represented by a group of men that fought until the end. Mistakes can be made, calls can be questioned, physicality can be outmatched…those things can be fixed. Freeman has established a resolute culture that I’m proud of.
So proud of this @NDFootball team. Down 31-7 midway through the 3rd, they fought back to within 8 and only a fantastic 57 yard throw and catch on 3rd and 8 stopped their comeback. Thanks to all who made this incredible year happen. The future is bright. #GoIrish
@SteveAngello Valodja is a classic. Some of my favorite moments during your solo sets have been when you’ve mixed in ID2, leave the world behind (esp the mashup with Empire - this is an all time favorite), check this out, make love (cya). Yeah…I like progressive :-)
A waitress at a coffee shop, Molly Seidel participated in her first-ever marathon and qualified for #Tokyo2020. She returned from Japan with a bronze medal!
Will she be the first American winner of the Boston Marathon since 2018?

@PeterAttiaMD Have you seen any current attempts to mitigate lung damage via the methods below: “ Inhibition of the AT1R indeed attenuated acute severe lung injury in Spike-Fc–treated mice (Fig. 4e). “ Full Text: nature.com/articles/nm1267
Please put questions re: SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 into comments on this tweet thread. Will put out a short update video tonight on Instagram to address what we can. Sorry for lack of formality around this, but info is still changing very quickly.
@afrojack Think you’d find the interview between @PeterAttiaMD and Robert Sapolsky interesting in regards to this topic: peterattiamd.com/robertsapolsky/ specifically subjective socioeconomic status and social media increasing the proximity of success (starts around 1:04)
Its interesting how twitter and youtube never led to any extreme addiction, mental health problems or social anxiety, but instagram for some reason leading people to social isolation
We hope you enjoyed your DARI experience @sportsiren . Reach out if you want to learn more about our technology and your movement!
