...He wants to thank the nurses by appealing Bill 124, the bill he passed to suppress their wages as well as others? I know he's trying to change the subject, but if that's his answer to the question, then that's his answer.
Richard Southern@RichardCityNews

NEW - Asked why he’s appealing the bill 124 ruling, Ford says he wants to thank the nurses “My hands are tied on what I can say” he says the verdict was “Interesting to say the least” says he will not use the notwithstanding clause in this matter.

On Friday, a student looked unwell. Said they felt dizzy. I felt their forehead & they were burning up. Office wouldn't (or couldn't) measure their temperature. I told the student to go home. They didn't. Kids are coming to school sick & we can't do anything about it.

@bowmancanada @gator_gum Every teacher works after the bell rings. How do people think marking, prep, & report cards get done? I used to go out on my own time to buy art supplies, books, & tech for the school. Teachers can go above & beyond, but it doesn't have to be extra-curriculars.

90 percent of the working world leave 1 minute after the "bell" and avoids doing "extra work" unless it is paid for. Expecting a system that is so critical to exist on voluntary hours is very difficult.
Gerry Dee@gerrydee

I worked with teachers like this. Gone at 3:01 pm every day.Always looking for shortcuts to avoid doing anything extra. Usually miserable everyday too. Complained about everything. Extracurricular is part of teaching. If you want to leave 3:01 pm, find something else.

I teach high school and students come to school sick. We do not keep track of COVID anymore so nobody is going to warn anyone if COVID is spreading around. I've been wearing a mask. If people want students to wear masks too, then we need a better approach than last year's.

I've been wearing a mask and I will continue to do so. If kids want to put on a mask, they can go for it. But unless we're given actual tools to enforce these mandates, I just don't have the energy anymore to chase your kids around telling them to pull their masks up.

When there was a mask mandate last yr, we were told to enforce it, but weren't given any tools to do so. It became a soul sucking affair. You're constantly telling kids to wear a mask & they would pull it down any chance they could. I don't have the bandwidth to do it again.

Hahahahaha the government lawyer now talking about how asynchronous learning is bad for students because they are learning alone. Then why will @Sflecce only allow students to fulfil the mandatory 2 online credits in asynchronous courses???

@Ms_Paperclips I've been more involved with the school Chromebooks this year & I know we don't have enough for all the kids in need. Moving to synchronous is inequitable. Telling us vaguely to support them is inadequate. It's not enough for Lecce to stomp on Charter rights apparently.

So my board issues the communication to parents that we will be going on line. I feel like we just cannot get a break. I refuse to do any Google slide decks this weekend. I am sick & tired of my personal time being used to make "it work" for my career.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board begins with a call for cooler heads to prevail and for tempers not to flare. All 4 teachers unions are seeking intervenor status -- which the government's lawyers have objected to. youtube.com/watch?v=b1f6_K… #onpoli #onted

The approximate annual cost for the raise requested by CUPE is $264m. The $200 per child bribe Lecce recently gave out cost around $365m. The license plate renewal fee brought in approximately $1b each year.

FYI last week one of my students emailed to say that they have COVID & won't return until they're better. They had been maskless the entire semester. I informed admin & asked what's the procedure. Nothing. This is the classroom environment Lecce wants your kids back into.

@dzoolander85 I can barely go to the bathroom myself. Maybe Furey can go in and do that if he's so passionate about cleaning bathrooms.

Anthony Furey says teachers & principals should now take short breaks from teaching classes of 32 to go clean toilets, do snow removal & work w/ kids one-on-one. "It's the Real World: Time to pitch in & be a company man for the Premier," says Furey. Fuck that. 😒 #OntEd #OnPoli
