Big things are happening at Robert Frost PreK-8 School! This update from two weeks ago shows just how far the Blueprint Schools Phase 2 project has come, and we’re gearing up to top out in the next few weeks. Designed to serve both elementary and middle school students, the new campus will feature distinct academic neighborhoods, a central double-height library at the heart of the school, and shared commons spaces that support learning and community use beyond school hours. From daylight-filled classrooms and geothermal systems to outdoor learning spaces and rain gardens, this project is built to inspire while advancing sustainability goals, with a path toward Net Zero Energy. MCN proudly joined @MayorBowser, @DCDGS, @DCDPR, @studio27arch, and Ward 8 community members to break ground on the new $25 million Douglass Community Center in Washington, DC. Named in honor of Frederick Douglass and celebrated during Black History Month, this project reflects a continued investment in Ward 8, delivering a modern, 13,550-square-foot, energy-efficient facility and six acres of upgraded outdoor amenities. The new center will provide multipurpose rooms, a fitness center, media center, commercial kitchen, playgrounds, community garden, and a pool and splash pad, creating safe, vibrant space for families, youth, and seniors year-round. We are grateful to have been recognized with seven awards across five projects, spanning multiple sectors. Two topping outs in the past two weeks! It's been an exciting season of progress at MCN as we celebrated topping outs for both Harriet Tubman Elementary School and Templeton Elementary School. Harriet Tubman Elementary School holds special meaning for our team as the very first public school MCN ever worked on nearly two decades ago. Today, we're proud to return to that same site to deliver a full modernization that gives students and teachers a state-of-the-art learning space. Templeton Elementary School is one of eight schools in the PGCPS Blueprint Schools Phase II program, a partnership that's transforming education across Prince George's County by creating innovative, future-ready learning environments. Our summer interns are officially on site!   They kicked off their first day with purpose by giving back. This sharp, motivated group spent the day volunteering at @BreadfortheCity a nonprofit providing DC residents with services to reduce the burden of poverty. The intern team rolled up their sleeves to help renovate the organization’s rooftop garden, a space that not only grows fresh produce but also serves as a hands-on demonstration and teaching garden for the community.   We're excited to have them on board and look forward to seeing what they'll accomplish. All In, Together 🦺 This Safety Week, our project teams went all in, hosting daily safety demonstrations focused on critical topics like fall protection, hazard awareness, and more, led by our safety team and superintendents across every jobsite. We wrapped the week with site-wide pizza parties and raffles, where subcontractors earned their prizes by answering safety questions! Thank you to our safety team, project teams, and to everyone who showed up and tuned in. Blueprint Schools Phase II Progress Update: We're making steady progress across three of our eight Phase II schools! Robert Frost Elementary School – Geothermal wells and underground utilities are being installed, with the site fully graded and tree conservation measures in place.   Margaret Brent Elementary School – Foundations are starting, with major earthwork, utility installation, and geothermal work already completed.   Templeton Elementary School – Foundations are underway! Stormwater utility structures are being installed, and major earthwork activities, including grading and sediment traps, are in full swing. Stay tuned as these future-ready schools come to life.
