@RustyBucket4846 @SynthPotato That goes about at least triple for any other open world. ER catches that type of criticism, yet these other games have like 3 different enemy types with barely functioning AI, and not even 10% of the world variety.

@mcwizardry1 @SynthPotato Elden Ring was great but the amount of reused assets, bosses and dungeons made exploration extremely predictable

Starting to think Crimson Desert’s open world may be one of the greatest open worlds ever designed, rivaling Skyrim and Red Dead 2 The amount of unique structures I’ve come across has been ridiculous and this is just in Hernand alone, the sense of discovery is amazing.

@JacoBee___ @SynthPotato Why does it need to be alive? The level design, sense of exploration, awe and discovery is second to none. These other games are bogged down by linearity, hand holdy design and severe lack of freedom, which defeats the whole point of open world.

@MrHooboMaster @EddieArcane I mean yeah? What do you expect, people to buy every game? Trailers exist for a reason, for us to decide whether or not is it for us without having to play it.

@mcwizardry1 @MHealey1903 @derpo377 Because people were aching for a game like that in 2015, not so much in 2002-2005. Come on, it's basic thinking. RE4 Sold way better in the same time frame in the gamecube than REmake and Zero ever did.

it’s such a shame they never got around to remaking Resident Evil 2 and Nemesis in the style of the RE1 Gamecube Remake

@MHealey1903 @derpo377 You realize 1R had a surge in sales when they re-realised it on modern platforms in 2014? It sold bad initially cuz it was only on Gamecube. And it's no limitation, it's a deliberate design, and clearly a lot of people still love it.

@derpo377 Because it would've sold like shit just like RE1R did on release. Tank controls are a relic of the past that deserves to die and while there's an art form to fix cameras it was a limitation work around not a preferred feature of developers.

@Niflheimm155983 Beginning of RE7 has your wife chasing you with a chainsaw and that's too scary for these people lol. I mean i like it, it's campy horror, but i don't get these people shitting their pants over these games.

Bro it’s a video game, like I understand the idea of tense gameplay that comes with survival horror, but are grown men out here seriously having nightmares over RE7 or Outlast? Like how?
ARTPOP Revenge@DeanGagaKennedy

People being mad at me because i said fans are making Resident Evil less Horror by acting like littlest things are terrifying, the producers and developers are literally saying they made an effort to make the games less scary After RE7.

I tracked down the source people use to say RE1 Remake is the intended vision of RE1 for Mikami and it doesn't really say that. What it says is that he's using the power of the gamecube to remake RE1 because OG RE1 is closer to his original vision of what the franchise should be

@SynthPotato It's clunky cuz of the movement inertia and start up/stop animations. It makes it less responsive and less precise, it's by design. The irony is that it's not realistic either. Real humans do not move this sluggishly.

I will never be convinced that "Red Dead 2 has bad gameplay" The immersive mechanics and linear mission design were both perfect and are why so many missions are memorable. The movement is immersive, just walking around feels grounded, and it never once felt "clunky" to me🤷‍♂️

@SynthPotato The problem isn't the slowness, it's how tedious it feels and it controls like ass. Also people have to stack up on patience and resilience to deal with IRL stuff, it's understandable if they don't want to put up with slow and tedious games on top of that.

@IGN Disapointing. Returnal was already probably the most forgiving roguelike, it also lets you even skip bosses if you killed them once. How do you even make it easier than that.

@IGN Why is the goal to always "eclipse" the predecessor? Can you just make something that's unique on it's own ? Why I'm i supposed to care about Saros if it's going to be rendered obsolete by whatever the next project from Housemarque is ?

Saros takes Returnal's looper shooter action and twists it into a whole new cosmic horror bullet-fest that aims to eclipse its predecessor. From playing three hours myself, I think it's doing just that. Our preview: bit.ly/3Q1aQZ6

@mrpyo1 Such a weird game. Bullet hell games are all about careful and precise positioning, what even is the point of all these patterns if you're gonna add iframe dashes and shield that absorbs projectiles?

I cannot remember the last time a AAA game last posted a “Copies Sold” slide for their newly game release. It’s always a number of “Players” slide. Wonder why that is? 3 million in less than a week is wild. Starting to think that Journo Games Media isn’t needed anymore. Probably never was.
Crimson Desert@CrimsonDesert_

We are grateful to share #CrimsonDesert has sold through 3 million copies worldwide. To everyone who has stepped into Pywel and shared this journey with us, thank you. Your feedback continues to help shape the experience, and we will keep working to make the journey ahead even more enjoyable for our players.

@gindi4711 @ItsDigi_NFT @arfa2706 I know, but still very parry focused and designed for 1v1. Mikiri is functionally like a 2nd parry on a different button. I always try to get flashy like it's an CA game, and i did gauntlets too. I enjoy the game, but like i said just not what I prefer.

Is there any other open world game with good combat? Like, besides Elden Ring and Nioh 3 maybe And I said GOOD combat, don't bring me Ghost of Tsushima or The Witcher Grand majority of open world games are RPG heavy where they feed you lots of content, but lack good gameplay.

@gindi4711 @ItsDigi_NFT @arfa2706 I'd say sekiro is tighter, and hits harder at start, but when the parry novelty wears off, I end up prefering other stuff in the long run. I like having 3 weapons/combos, trips, stuns, freezes, arenas and combat against higher number of variety of enemies at the same time.

@mcwizardry1 Ok, then the same can be doubly true for any game you mentioned and any of their enemies/bosses. Most of them are utterly forgettable. I do enjoy different kinds of combat systems though but I think there’s more to complexity that what the player can do alone

Arfa getting some crazy replies but forgetting the risk of getting cooked myself, I mostly agree. Some are ok but most are surface level deep. That doesn’t mean I (or you) can’t find them fun🙂
