मेरठ का अंकित कुमार अपनी बारात हाथी से लेकर गया। इसके लिए उसने ढाई लाख रुपए खर्च किए। अंकित खेतों में गन्ना काटने का काम करता है, जब यह नहीं होता तो मजदूरी करता है। रोज करीब 500 रुपए मिलते हैं। हाथी से बारात ले जाने को लेकर अंकित का कहना है, जब 5 साल का था तभी तय किया था कि हाथी पर बैठकर बारात ले जाऊंगा। इसीलिए के लिए पैसा जुटाया। मेरठ में हाथी नहीं मिली तो राजस्थान के जयपुर से मंगाया। हाथी को जयपुर से मेरठ लाने में परमिशन के 1 लाख रुपए खर्च हुए। हाथी का किराया और लाने और ले जाने में 1 लाख 60 हजार रुपए खर्च हुए। अंकित के पिता कालू कहते हैं, बेटे की इच्छा थी तो हमने भी ठान लिया था कि इसकी बारात हाथी पर ही निकलेगी। हमने और बेटे ने पैसा जुटाया और हाथी ले आए।
