@ZungulaVuyo I support the idea that all public officials including the president must be held accountable. My difficulty is when the courts' arms (ncluding the Concort's) are twisted to commit judicial overreach. Former CJ Mogoeng Mogoeng said voters have the final power to punish offenders.

When SARB said Mr Ramaphosa didn’t need to declare foreign currency because the “transaction was not perfected” it was clearly bending the rules to protect the President. When the Public Protector cleared Mr Ramaphosa, it was evident He was being protected. When Parliament voted against adopting a report penned by former judges that found there is a case to answer, the ANC abused its majority to shield Mr Ramaphosa from being held accountable. When all institutions fail in their Constitutional obligations, the Constitutional Court must restore order. It must remedy failures of all institutions by advancing the ideals of the Constitution, in this case, the duty of Parliament to scrutinise and oversee the Executive, which Parliament failed to do so.

I think it’s quite clear that Helen Zille is running a disingenuous campaign… but unfortunately that doesn’t matter, no party is opposing her right now. At best, Khusela Sangoni and Michael Beaumont are tweeting angrily about her campaign. That’s far from enough. By the time other parities begin to campaign it will be too late. She would have captured the imagination of millions of Jhb residents.

@pierredevos Prof help me out here. I heard an argument that says the possible MK/EFF/NFP coalition with 40 seats (votes) can oust the IFP/ANC/DA coalition which would have 39 votes given that the Speaker who occupies the 40th seat can't vote undernormal circumstances. What's your take?

Helen is doing the most pathetic and sickening patronage, and patronizing using the team we love Orlando Pirates. She's never been a supporter nothing wrong for choosing us but it's sickening all in the name of winning black vote.

[COMMENT] There’s cautious optimism that the appointment of General Puleng Dimpane as acting National Police Commissioner could bring a measure of much-needed stability to the South African Police Service at a critical time. Yes, it is a gap-filling move, but interim leadership doesn’t have to mean passive leadership. In fact, it can be used to reset the tone at the top, tightening internal discipline, restoring confidence within the ranks, and reinforcing accountability in both operational and financial management. Dimpane’s background in financial oversight could be particularly important in an organisation that has faced ongoing scrutiny over spending, procurement, and resource allocation. The real opportunity here is to stabilise key pressure points: strengthen crime intelligence, improve coordination between units, and ensure that frontline policing is properly supported. SAPS doesn’t just need continuity -it needs visible, decisive leadership, even in an acting capacity. At the same time, this appointment shouldn’t become an excuse to delay a permanent solution. Acting roles can only carry so much authority, and uncertainty at the top often filters down. What matters now is whether this period is used productively to rebuild credibility and momentum, rather than simply keeping the seat warm while deeper structural issues remain unresolved. The President must also move at speed and appointment a permanent Police Minister.

Meet South Africa’s new acting National Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Puleng Dimpane. She is the Chief Financial Officer and Divisional Commissioner for Financial Management Services in the South African Police Service, a position she has held since 2018. She has recently testified on SAPS expenditure, including the reported high costs associated with task teams such as the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), where figures of around R435 million were discussed. In her testimony, she denied personal involvement in tender processes linked to these expenditures. Key Roles and Background of Lt Gen Puleng Dimpane: •Role: As CFO, she oversees financial management services for SAPS. •Testimony & Findings: In November 2025, she testified that her role focuses on financial oversight rather than approving operational, day-to-day procurement or specific contract awards. •Irregular Expenditure: She raised concerns regarding a lack of accountability for irregular spending in SAPS and supported forensic investigations into procurement, specifically citing a R360m contract with Medicare24. •Task Team Costs: Dimpane disclosed that the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) cost taxpayers R435m since 2018, defending the expenditure as necessary, while also noting that temporary unit costs are higher than standard operations. •Conflict: She expressed shock that an internal note she authored was used to justify the disbanding of the PKTT, stating her notes were taken out of context. •Experience: Before becoming CFO, she served as the Provincial Head for Financial and Administration Services in the Free State.

BREAKING NEWS | KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will soon be leading a national crime-fighting project.  This will focus on organised crime in all forms, countrywide.  He has given an assurance that the province of KZN will still be in good hands, and the new task would not completely remove him from his current role.  @eNCA
