I propose a NEW stat…BAOP! Batting average + OBP The #nerds love OPS but OPS completely disregards batting average and gives to much credit to SLG and that’s not a good way to measure a hitter. If you just look at OPS when comparing Jazz & Bo they’re pretty close but if you look at their BAOP Bo’s is (.631) while Jazz’s BAOP is (.564) or (.67) difference. Bo’s lifetime batting average is (46) points higher which is very significant. Also Jazz has K’d (648) times in (2,109) AB’s while Bo has K’d (639) times in (3,075) AB’s which is also significant. Nothing good happens when you K!
