@mahonj @eevblog I still not get why then 12v system in them is so flimsy. Basically all of them sometimes fail like that. Though friends ionic apparently charges it even when parked. You get a message on the dash if the car did that.

@eevblog google(why do EVs have a 12V battery, why not take a tap off the main high voltage battery?) answer: safety and ability to run the low power systems (like locks) if the main battery is shut off or dead. It is not as crazy as it sounds.

A fully charged EV is ironically dead because of a lead acid battery.

@eevblog This is how my fathers tpyota bz4 stopped working one day new. Car just forgot to charge it. Probably computer doing that and error loggig crashed, as the logs are gone for tge days beforr it happened. Dealership service could not see the problem and did not believe me :D
