@SLCPublicLands Can’t make this event but am concerned about the invasive species in our foothills and potential fire risk. Who at Public Lands can I reach out to about this and actions neighborhoods can take?

I can’t speak for where she stands on expanding the taxpayer funded lunch program but I think it deserves studying. Where there is truly a need for taxpayer funded lunches vs reduced price lunches, then yes. A federal program during pandemic provided taxpayer funded meals at schools to all children regardless of the economic status of their family. That’s going too far in my opinion.

@LettersfromTim @archiecurium @ANZCA Classic whataboutism, w/flawed data. The proper comparison is per capita: 🇦🇺 per person outpaces 🇨🇳 but 🇦🇺 is making progress thanks to efforts like these from people like @archiecurium who are doing the work w/a focus on the health of everyone on 🌏 drop the cynicism & join us!

Anaesthesia creates waste and emissions yes but....all less than the TKR prosthesis! Dr Forbes Mcgain on impacts on renewables vs reusables vs both! We cannot do it alone in anaesthesia though... #ASM24BRIS @ANZCA

@andypierucciUT @EPA The cost of fossil fuel electricity & transport in UT does not include the healthcare burden borne by UT residents & taxpayers. This amounts to $1.8 billion annually according to BYU & potentially $7+B. How do you propose to address this without switching to clean electricity?

There’s bipartisan opposition to todays rules. We all want clean air, but reasonable people disagree about what steps must be taken. These rules are illegal and the @EPA overstepped their authority while Americans will pay the price in higher energy costs.

@KUTV2News I would use it. Been meaning to take a trip to Boise and trains are wonderful way to travel and actually see the countryside. Other friends indicate the same. Would also make for a nearly carbon free travel if you bike to station and then bike around Boise.

A since-scrapped plan to connect Idaho and Utah via high-speed train could be rekindled after Transportation Sec. Buttigieg promised "more high-speed rail lines are coming." Would you use it? Take our poll >> bit.ly/4aO0TUG

@StevenHeine4 @CoachBalto I hope policy makers that retweet eg @SpencerJCox can see that too, yes social media co’s have responsibility here but so much benefit to making communities safe for kids to get around by themselves & scaffold independence (sep protected bike lanes, transit passes, 3rd space etc)

There’s been much discussion about @JonHaidt’s book, The Anxious Generation, but what hasn’t been emphasized enough is what an excellent illustration this book is of the key tenets of cultural psychology. A 🧵

@StevenHeine4 Does Haidt discuss role of built environment & car-dependency? For instance I remember (90s) riding my bike to school & meeting w/friends to roam the neighborhood. Seems like today kids are dropped off & picked up & driven from place to place (w/exception of @CoachBalto bike bus)

Epidemiological studies highlight how much the prevalence of mental disorders differs across cultures. The high rates of depression/anxiety disorders among youth today are in search of an explanation, and I think Haidt is correct to turn to the cultures that youth are living in.

Sunday Thoughts…. In 2023 I was asked to give a lecture at the Wallace Stegner Symposium about the Great Salt Lake at the University of Utah. The University of Utah Press selected a few for publishing. I am so grateful mine was one of them🙏

@janevandis Not all particles are created equal. Particle Speciation research is essential to help us navigate the various sources of PM that can provide climate cover while having the least health impacts.
