The 2024 Survey of the Performance of American Elections has arrived. The 2020 partisan split over confidence in state election administration is mostly gone in the battleground states, but still persists in solid red/blue states + state w/ lots of mail ballots.

@bcburden I can see how that will be a problem here as well. But voter check-in is a separate step from stating your address, but if you have a different address especially say, with a college address, I can see it being an issue.

At the polling place I’m observing there’s surprising confusion among some poll workers about the distinction between proof of residence (to register) and ID (to vote)

I’m excited to share two new papers — both recently accepted! 1️⃣ @apsrjournal: do new policies only affect election outcomes when the benefits come straight from government? It appears so! rb.gy/4plrpg

The number of unaffiliated voters requesting a mail ballot in NC during January for the pres'l primary has now exceeded the number requested in all of Jan. '20. I'm assuming these are mostly people wanting to vote for Haley, but I could be wrong.

It's been 669 days since Charlotte has had measurable snowfall. By far the longest streak on record, so bad that number 2 on the list is 428 days. #cltwx #ncwx #snOMG

My students sometimes think a 1,000-word paper is daunting but I just saw a post on NextDoor that long. It was one sentence. About a cat.

As someone cursed with a "III" after his name, I ask you to follow all the stylebooks & refer to us in citations as "last name, year" not "last name III, year." The same applies to people with Jr. & Sr. It's King, Martin Luther, Jr., not King Jr., Martin Luther... That is all.
