My brain is tired so simply feast your eyes on Schiaparelli’s 1941 velvet evening jacket reflecting the times in which she lived. As Frenchwomen were encouraged to grow vegetables during war, so she designed the stitches for a part of the story onto her trademark colour @V_and_A

there’s actually a second layer of symbolism here! the symbol is normally a Y facing the correct way up—an abstraction of the three branches meeting in downtown—but is flipped upside down when representing anything related to engineering to symbolize engineers reversing the river

Just noticed my favorite old Chicago symbol on this traffic control electric@box at 53rd/Lake Park. Look ancient but it is not. Unless you consider something like 10-20 years old ancient. Most here know this but it’s not a peace sign—the lines in the circle represent the Chicago River and its north and south branches. Not fair to the West Side I suddenly realize.
