Here’s your friendly reminder that bodily autonomy doesn’t begin or end at reproductive rights. It includes the right to use (ALL) drugs/substances. Everyone uses drugs.

Full agonist & partial agonist opioids are NOT the same. If your doctor tries to convince you otherwise, find another one. Medical care should be individualized, patients should be provided accurate information, & all treatment options should be available. #disabilityjustice
Bev Schechtman🇮🇱@ibdgirl76

I am going to sum up pain care for you in 2026. Patient: "opioids help my pain." Doctor: "No they don't." Patient: "Suboxone doesn't help my pain." Doctor: "Yes it does."

@mwickens @AdamZivo These sites done properly actually do a lot of that legwork already. As long as the majority of participants aren’t impeding on the freedom of others in some way I think there’s a lot more good than bad here.

@melbee4444 @AdamZivo I would not be opposed if government were not involved at all except to protect everyone else from the effects of these… free-market supervised injection sites?

@painmednews Drug diversion isn’t the problem. Drug prohibition is. Stop pandering to drug war propaganda, this is what’s killing people.

@ibdgirl76 @Pharmed_Out If there’s pharma orgs advocating for access to the most beneficial & life restoring pain relief medicine in the world, used in countless civilized societies throughout history, I’d LOVE to collaborate…I’m not holding my breath…

Everyone loves talking about “pharma-funded pain advocacy.” O, show me one. Just one. In 2026. Now do the same for addiction orgs not funded by bupe manufacturers like Indivior, or makers of Narcan. Good luck. @Pharmed_Out for some reason the cat's got your tongue when discussing addiction orgs. huh. weird.

We are devastated to learn of the recent death of Logan Hullinger, who reported for Filter on harm reduction developments in and around Baltimore. filtermag.org/author/logan-h… Logan was a dedicated journalist with a keen sense of the injustice around him. He will be deeply missed 💔

@mwickens @AdamZivo These are completely different things… & definitely not representative of every anti Prohibitionist’s ideas of how an alternative regulated market could function realistically. Would you be opposed if it didn’t require taxpayer money to operate?

@AdamZivo They also believe spending taxpayer funds to establish a government-sanctioned drug den is the same as not prosecuting someone who brings a beer to an outdoor function.

We know having a glass of wine or a coffee isn't an issue, so we know having a psychoactive drug isn't an issue. As we thankfully move away from drug use being regarded as a crime issue - let's guard against drug 'use' being constructed as a health issue. Not until drugs are legalised will they stop being seen as problems per se. Not until drugs are legalised will people stop seeing drug use as inherently problematic. We need YOUR signature on the petition to bring drug reform to Aotearoa, New Zealand Please support us, sign and share: hrca.nz

Something to consider for the war on drugs & Operation Epstein’s Fury. Paying for the government to kill our friends & neighbors is morally repugnant. Combined, these wars cost the USA several BILLION dollars A DAY. Neither war can be won. #NotTaxAdvice nwtrcc.org

@mferreriptbokaw @lifewitsonduren @rcmpgrcpolice Nobody’s “coming after” your kids. Enough with the paranoia, he sought the drug out, drugs didn’t seek him. These businesses only exist bc people can’t buy from a regulated market. Prohibition is a fantasy, that’s infinitely more deadly than any drug. SUD is a policy disorder.

Addiction is an issue that impacts roughly 10% of people who use prohibited drugs (PWUPD). Prohibition is an issue that impacts 100% of PWUPD. It causes multi problems. Because of PROHIBITION the person: 1. Has no idea of the purity or strength of the drug. 2. Has no idea of the content of the drug — it could contain toxic ingredients that may cause serious harm, even death. It might not even be the drug they thought they purchased. 3. Has to buy drugs ‘underground’ — exposing the person to a potentially dangerous criminal underworld with no consumer protection. 4. Is at risk of acquiring a criminal record for drug possession — which would have lifelong damaging consequences on employment prospects, education, insurance, travel and housing. 5. Because of fear of arrest and punishment drugs are often used in secret. This may mean using alone, in an isolated location which could be potentially dangerous especially — such as a condemned building, under a railway bridge, by a river etc. 6. People who have to hide their use of prohibited drugs are less likely to seek help, support or advice, even when serious issues arise. 7. People with life-limiting medical conditions who can’t afford/can’t access legal medication or who’s condition fails to respond to pharmaceutical medicines but find benefit from a prohibited drug, are placed under considerable strain and pressure trying to self-medicate. 8. Enforcement of drug laws unfairly target poorer people, young people and Māori — further limiting the opportunities for already marginalised people by adding a criminal record. 9. Policing drug use is an expensive waste of police time — time that could be better spent catching criminals and protecting victims from physical/sexual violence, trespass, theft and burglary. 10. The prohibition of drugs fuel an extremely lucrative illegal market where disputes are resolved by violence making citizens less safe.

This demonic practice of withholding safe legal rx opioid pain medication from suffering patients, because of vastly overblown hysteria about the very small risks of opioid medicines, must end.
🍄Mary Jane🍄@Duskblossom

@CMerandi I was given the ultimatum for a baclofen pump. I refuse to have surgery, anything put in my spine, frequent visits for refills, risk of shock, and further surgery when oral pain medication exists

I remember Ashley beating this drum. Telling everyone she could that over 90% of all waivers in richmond were on black residents. It’s stuck w me. It stuck w many as well as taught us something new ab our system. So proud of @JusticeFwdVa and hype for Virginia!
Brad Haywood@BradleyRHaywood

Here’s an amazingly awesome example of why more public defenders need to be involved in legislative advocacy: - This was Ashley Shapiro’s idea. - Ashley is a Deputy Public Defender in Richmond who was totally fed up with her “progressive” prosecutor and local police department’s total indifference to the rights of her clients to be free from unlawful searches & seizures. - 2 1/2 years ago, at @JusticeFwdVa’s annual legislative priorities meeting, Ashley said we needed to add a ban on 4A plea waivers to our list. - We did, and @rpogge drafted the bill - We tried in two previous sessions to no avail. - Sen. @salimforva stepped up, became as outraged as we were, and rode damn hard for this important legislation. - Add to it that Dems now control both chambers, and this year the bill enjoyed tons of support, and is now headed to the Governor for her signature. Please note the lack of public policy degrees, professional lobbyists, or insider knowledge in the foregoing narrative. Rather, a group of public defenders convened, said “WTF” about a policy they hated, found an excellent bill patron, and voila—thousands of vulnerable people’s rights will be vindicated. Democracy may be on the ropes elsewhere, but it’s alive and well in Virginia.

@ricmai28 @aftariak Oh Yepp, methadone clinics are required to have armed security by the DEA…it’s absolutely absurd. They treat people like criminals, not patients seeking healthcare on their own accord. The clinic system has to go, it’s inhumane.
