So rumors are making the rounds that a major Philippine real estate firm - one of the oldest - is facing financial difficulties on P300B ($5B) of “exposure” (likely debt related to poorly performing projects). This article suggests issues are isolated to this firm. But from what I’m hearing, issues are more wide-spread. While still not reaching alarming levels, there’s definitely stress on the balance sheet of local property firms. A looming recession will be the test of their mettle. Lots gorged on debt driven expansion over the past 5 years.

READ: Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday denied allegations of unexplained wealth, a day after a House justice panel hearing on her impeachment.
In a statement, Duterte rejected claims by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV that she and her family received ₱181 million from an alleged drug lord, insisting her record in public service is “malinis” and free of misuse of public funds.
