What do you guys think of this? I know I have a specific viewpoint here but I think a DNF shelf is a grim idea. Not every book works for every reader. If this goes ahead I’ll have to think about taking down my ⁦@goodreads⁩ account.

Somebody blew it big time by scheduling the men’s hockey gold medal game for 8 a.m. ET Sunday. That just can’t happen. You know it’s going to be U.S.-Canada. European time zones don’t matter. They should’ve worked the entire Olympics schedule around giving it a better slot.

@ToffTalks YES! That's always been my philosophy too - if I don't love it by page 50, back to the library it goes. And sometimes that decision is made way before page 50!

I read… A LOT 🙃 I treat books as my little escape, I don’t watch TV, so whenever I get a quiet moment, you’ll usually find me with a book in hand. A little reading rule I swear by! If a book hasn’t hooked you by chapter four, ditch it. Life’s too short and there are too many amazing books out there. You definitely don’t need to be a big reader to enjoy these!! Some are quick, some are cosy, some you’ll think about for weeks. I’ve just whizzed through them because I’m a fast and slightly obsessive… (borderline unwell) reader. I asked @ChatGPTapp to work out how many words I’ve read this month, and I nearly fell off my chair. Maybe I need to get out more 🤣. I’d love to know, have you read any of these? Or is there a book you swear I need to add to my list?

NEW: Emergency call released of 13-year-old Austin Appelbee telling authorities to get a helicopter after he swam for four hours to reach the shore. Appelbee was heard calmly telling authorities that his mom and siblings were stranded at sea. The boy was heard explaining that his mom told him to swim to shore after they had been swept out about 2.5 miles. After four hours of swimming, Appelbee had to run about 1.25 miles to reach a phone. "I’m sitting on the beach right now, and I have to also explain. I think I need an ambulance because I think I have hypothermia … I feel like I’m about to pass out." Swims for four hours, sprints 1.25 miles, his body is failing, and he calmly instructs emergency responders to send out a helicopter. Wild.
