But when Russia denies that Ukraine is a real nation, builds concentration camps on Ukrainian territory, bans Ukrainian language and systematically arrests mayors, teachers, journalists, and priests, then Russia is also attacking Europe that was built after 1945, Europe whose borders are not supposed to be changed by force. Russia invaded Ukraine not only to destroy Ukraine but also to prove that treaties are meaningless, alliances are weak, and brute force still decides fate of nations. By waging imperial war of conquest, Russia seeks to undermine Europe's post-imperial order.

This is not “some distant conflict.” This is the reality of Ukraine right now. And the most terrifying part is that the world has become so used to these headlines that, for many people, they are now just another post in a phone feed. But for someone, it was their home. Their neighbors. Their family. Their life.

Before killing Mohammad, the regime arrested his daughter and sentenced her to 25 years in prison. Imagine being a father in a prison cell, knowing your child is suffering because of you. Knowing the people interrogating you are using your daughter’s life to break your spirit. They tortured him. Threatened him through his own child. Somewhere tonight, a daughter is living with the nightmare that her father was taken to the gallows while she sat helpless behind bars. This is the cruelty of the Islamic Republic. They do not only execute prisoners. They torture families. They turn love into punishment. 💔
