All of a sudden, I have become a big fan of the 'dark mode' of Word and other text editors. What's next, lowering all the window blinds and turning off the lights? #aging

Kind of amazing these basic, yet in many cases serious issues, were not picked up in 2 years of peer review. Oh well. Skibidi toilet. 18/18

The last author of #Sec10" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nature.com/articles/s4158… suggests one use chatGPT to read his paper. So I ran the Methods section through chatGPT for him. The tl;dr (produced in thread form and copied straight from chatGPT!) is in the thread below: 1/🧵

#ProteinCartography is an easy-to-use pipeline that identifies proteins related to a query protein using sequence- and structure-based searches, compares all protein structures, and creates an interactive map you can use to generate hypotheses. x.com/Mezarque/statu…

Ever wondered which organisms encode your favorite protein? 🤔 Do you like maps? 🗺️ At @ArcadiaScience, we’re developing “ProteinCartography,” a tool that makes interactive maps of protein space. We'd love your feedback on this early version! 🧵 1/9 doi.org/10.57844/arcad…

I still have too few words to express the heartbreak, but also need too many words to capture what @taniguchiMD was to us. He was a scientist’s scientist and a doctor’s doctor - simply the best. So instead, a tweetorial of things I learned from him over the last 8 years:

This bio-rad c1000 touch dual block thermal cycler tried to burn down the lab today. I was running a routine PCR on both blocks and sparks and acrid smoke started flying out the back. Should I stick with the brand or try another one?

@mellowgeorge WOW! I would contact your rep. and ask them for a trade-in/replacement. That is scary. We have a Bio-Rad PCR machine and it's great. I would buy another.

Whole-plasmid sequencing is unsettlingly revealing 😬 look at all these mismatches in the mini-white gene of pUASt when compared to the 'reference' sequence.

Learned a lot from @BioRender ‘s grant webinar! My favorite tip was about using color to highlight what matters. This slide shows how attention is drawn away from the control when black is used 👇

@FlySci Oh "Indian spicy" is a truly unique experience. I tried it once and never again. It was yummy until about halfway through when I can no longer taste anything except heat. The restaurant owner wanted to switch it out with a mild one. Too late. 😅
