Great read on a recent focus group from @NavigatorSurvey These women were frustrated, barely getting by and not at all hopeful elected officials will help them. A reminder of just how much people are struggling and how important it is to actually deliver on making life better

I sat in to watch a Dem focus group with female swing voters (all moms). The difficulty of any Dem message getting to people who distrust The News and rely on social media was stark - two 2024 Harris voters got their news from Candace Owens! semafor.com/article/03/26/…

When Obama sent Iran $400m + $1.3bn in interest in 2016 Trump called it "insane" and he and others spent a decade mocking the idea of "pallets of cash" even though it was Iran's own money, American prisoners were released, courts were likely to require the U.S. payment, and Iran had just agreed to significant and verified reductions and restrictions on its nuclear program for 15+ years. Now Trump is giving Iran up to ten times that amount of revenue--one of the most significant measures of sanctions relief provided to the Islamic Republic since its founding--in exchange for marginal and temporary relief from the big increase in oil prices his actions have caused, without any concessions from Tehran, and even as Iran continues to target the United States, its allies, and world oil supplies. No way to read as anything other than desperate recognition of the situation Trump's own actions have created and the lack of available alternatives for dealing with it.

BREAKING: Qatar is set to fully shut natural gas liquefaction today, two sources close to the matter say. Restarting natural gas liquefaction after a complete shutdown would take 2 weeks. Once restarted, Qatar would need at least another 2 weeks to reach full capacity. Qatar is the 2nd largest LNG exporter in the world.

Rubio’s explanation yesterday was that Trump had to attack Iran to protect U.S. facilities and personnel in the region. But then they forgot to warn those very personnel to get out (much less help them get out) before the attack? Is that right?

It’s stunning to me, having worked in embassies for years, how late this order has come. Absolute negligence by Rubio, lack of planning and assessment by State. Nothing like previous conflicts. A first grader could have told u the embassy would be under significant threat from the immediate onset of hostilities.

Called the State Department emergency number because the advisory said “depart via commercial means” and to call if you need assistance arranging departure. Airspace is shut. Airports aren’t functioning. Airlines can’t be reached. After 30 minutes on the line, they read back the same security update posted online. I understand protocols. I understand thresholds for evacuation. But telling Americans to “depart now” when there are no commercial options and offering no practical pathway is frustrating to say the least:
