"Violence begins when discourse ends."
~Charlie Kirk
Discourse ends when one of the parties is no longer able to intelligently debate.
This is a strategem of dictators and totalitarians.
The last few questions and responses in Charlie's "Prove Me Wrong" event at UVU paint a picture of defeat for his "opposition".
"How many of those shooters were transgender?"
"Too many." The questioner thought that playing a numbers game would prove his point. He was wrong.
Had the questioner asked, "How many of those shooters were straight?" the response would have been the same, "Too many."
"How many of those shooters were women?" "Too many."
"How many of those shooters were men?" "Too many."
"How many of those shooters were white?" "Too many."
"How many of those shooters were black?" "Too many."
"Young people?" "Too many."
"Old people?" "Too many."
"Democrats?" "Too many."
"Republicans?" "Too many."
There is only one response to any question about how many shooters, "Too many."
And Charlie Kirk knew that. Every sane person knows that. Even one is "too many".
So what happened was an act of insanity perpetrated by an individual (or individuals) who realized that, even when they could intelligently respond, Charlie's discourse was gaining followers.
And in this one act of immature, senseless, meaningless violence, Charlie Kirk has won.
There is no way anyone is able to prove him wrong any more. He will be forever right in all that he has said.
