A constituent was running St. Jude’s half marathon this weekend and texted me this photo of National Guard members near Mile 11 of the run! The Memphis Safe Task Force is doing amazing work to restore order in Memphis, and it is thrilling to see what our city can be like when laws are enforced. We are never going back to the days when criminals dictated how we lived in Memphis! I am working on legislation now that will hold our D.A. accountable so this unprecedented investment isn’t wasted. We must show criminals that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated in Shelby County! To #MakeMemphisMatter, we must Make Memphis Safe. I’m just getting started. We have a city to save! Here are the latest Shelby County booking and bail figures. Counts remain high relative to the past two years but are the lowest they have been since the occupation began. The number of detainees held in overflow at the Division of Corrections has also increased since last year.

🚨Announcing the filing of the Memphis Safe Task Force DA Accountability Act 🚨 When I recently testified in front of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, I testified that our Soros-backed District Attorney Steve Mulroy was the weak link in the Memphis Safe Task Force’s efforts to #MakeMemphisMatter and clean up our crime. With over 2000 arrests between this summer’s Operation Viper and now the Memphis Safe Task Force, we know the majority of those arrests will bring state charges that must be prosecuted by our district attorney. While my efforts to hold our D.A. accountable have made the D.A. sound more muscular with his social media rhetoric, I am not yet convinced he isn’t undermining public safety with large amounts of dismissals, downgrading of charges, and his Justice Review Unit that seeks to reduce charges for previous convictions. Because of this concern, Monday morning I will be filing the Memphis Safe Task Force DA Accountability Act that will require district attorneys to certify to the U. S. Attorney and the legislature any downgraded charges or dismissals of charges that stem from Operation Viper or the Memphis Safe Task Force. This will allow us to track what D.A. Mulroy is doing with the state charges. In other words, we can’t let this once in a generation opportunity go to waste! More to come! I’m just getting started. We have a city to save! Trusted. @memphisjed @TheJFreakinC Law enforcement is attempting to apprehend a criminal. The criminal is working hard to escape. It creates an awkward driving situation. That's all that I see. The criminal should not have tried to escape.

🚨 DHS lied again.🚨 They claimed ICE agents only used force after a driver on Chicago’s Southeast Side tried to flee and rammed into their vehicle. But security footage tells a different story. The video shows agents initiating the collision…not defending themselves. Which matters, because using a vehicle to forcibly stop someone is only legal if that person poses an immediate danger to others or is a violent felon on the run. So why lie? Because it’s not about safety. It’s about covering for reckless, untrained agents using excessive force in crowded neighborhoods, putting innocent people, cars, and property at risk. ICE agents are making Chicago less safe for everyone.

If a police officer breaks the law, they should be prosecuted. If Tirade Tami breaks the law, she should be prosecuted too. I’ve been working since I’ve been in the legislature to crack down on drag racing. This is unacceptable behavior from anyone. If we are going to #MakeMemphisMatter, law and order must be restored to Shelby County.
