I despise the new ABS system in the MLB. You’re asking umpires to call a pitch going 95-100 w/spin/movement in a split second and then a batter or catcher can tappytap their helmet and let a computer determine ball or strike by a fraction on an inch. BS

Today is Palm Sunday so I got up and went to church. Our beloved pastor of over 20 years retired a few months ago, so we have fill-ins until we find a new pastor. Today’s preacher du jour treated us to a left-wing political lecture. I’m absolutely livid. Had I not been sitting on the front row I would’ve gotten up and walked out. Leave it to liberals to ruin the first day of holy week.

I hate bad umpiring as much as anyone, but is this really better for the sport in the long run? 1) You can no longer immediately celebrate a called 3rd strike without fear of it being overturned 2) What kind of losers are going to dedicate their lives to being umpires now?! 🤮

@flowsdoc Travel baseball is a money scheme on every level at every organization. I coached for over a decade for Five Star Baseball, won a WWBA, several Super NIT’s, etc, and I’m straight up telling you it’s a money scheme. You will get a 0% return on your money as far as travel goes.

Being a youth baseball parent is hard. My 7-year-old loves the game—wants to train all the time. Talked to a dad whose son just went through the travel ball gauntlet… all the names, programs, connections. Felt the FOMO… Then it hit me—we don’t need to chase everything. We just need to enjoy the game and let them grow. Any advice?

Serious question for H.S. coaches: You need ONE win to make the state playoffs. Who are you starting? 90+ with control issues (probably walking 6) or 80–82, 3 pitches for strikes, no walks—but might get hit? No wrong answer here.

Major League Baseball has clearly surpassed the NBA as the second most popular pro sport. The WBC is an enormous hit, the pitch clock has sped up and improved games, and baseball is rolling. Now the downside, will MLB blow all this goodwill up with a long strike? Hope not.
