Only in this twisted society, could this happen. 50 years ago, she'd have able to conceive a child through conventional methods and raise that child as a single mother (in the way a single mother would have had to). None of the former age group bar the 1, have shown any autistic traits, while the 6 although diverse have obvious ones. No person in either group was/is institutionalized.
