There you have it. Canada supports Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran, a blatant violation of the UN Charter & crime of aggression. Instead of pushing for de-escalation, Carney is enabling Israel’s genocidal leadership as they drag the region further into hell. What a disgrace.

If the Trudeau government has not allowed weapons shipments to Israel since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza, the government could easily confirm this by making an unequivocal statement to that effect. Instead, the Trudeau government has repeatedly resorted to obfuscation and evasion on the question of weapons shipments to Israel. Given its record of lavish support for Israel’s apartheid regime, the most plausible inference to draw from its behaviour is that Trudeau’s government has in fact allowed weapons to be shipped to Israel since October 7. UNRWA is the primary humanitarian agency in #Gaza, with over 2 million people depending on it for their sheer survival. 93% of displaced families in southern governorates of📍#Gaza have reported inadequate food consumption. People are desperate, hunger stalks everyone.

Do people realize that cutting off funding means Canada and the US are now also intentionally starving Palestinians in Gaza and anywhere UNRWA operates? In November, UNRWA was already forced to cut the number of families receiving assistance in Lebanon by 1/3 due to funding.

Today’s ruling by the International Court of Justice is an important first step. While we were disappointed that the ICJ did not make an explicit provisional order for a ceasefire, the Court ruled overwhelmingly that Israel must “take all measures within its power” to prevent genocidal acts in Gaza. And that Israel must provide aid into #Gaza, as well as punish anyone who has been inciting genocide. The fact that this case is proceeding forward - that the evidence has been met to move forward on a genocide case - should prompt deep introspection for our political parties here in #Canada. The Israeli government has consistently said that it respects the rules of war. The judges’ remarks indicate that the ICJ does not agree. Canada must announce its support for the ruling as a first step, and clearly rearticulate the call for an immediate #ceasefire. We have to stand for accountability and for peace. The world is watching. In Gaza, mass starvation and disease looms. More Palestinians there may die of hunger than have already died in the recent bombings and invasion. The Government and military of Israel are not letting food, water, and electricity into Gaza. This has to stop. Since October 7th, over 300 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including 60 children. Over 25,000 have been killed in Gaza, including several thousand children. Canada must play a role in stopping the violence in Gaza.

Over 2 million people in #Gaza depend on @UNRWA for survival as war and displacement continue. Many are hungry as the clock is ticking towards a looming famine. @UNRWA runs shelters for over 1 million people & provides food & primary healthcare even at the height of hostilities.

UNRWA employs 30,000 people. Israeli intelligence claims 12 were involved in the 7 October attack. That's 0.04% Biden, Trudeau, Albanese and Meloni immediately move to accelerate genocide by collective punishment, cutting desperately needed relief aid. It is beyond belief.
